    Research Officer

    Position Overview:

    • We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Manager to lead our organization's research initiatives and contribute to evidence-based advocacy, policydevelopment, and programming.
    • The Research Manager will be responsible for designing and conducting research projects, analyzing data, producing reports, and disseminating findings to inform decision-making and advance sexual and gender minority rights and equality.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Research Planning and Design:

    • Develop and implement a research agenda aligned with the organization's strategic priorities and advocacy objectives.
    • Design research methodologies, data collection tools, and sampling strategies tailored to the specific needs and contexts of TPLPI-targeted communities.
    • Ensure research activities adhere to ethical principles and human subjects protocols, and obtain necessary approvals from institutional review boards or ethics committees.
    • Carrying out desktop research related to inequality and social innovation practice globally, using a range of methods and data sources.

    Data Collection and Analysis:

    • Oversee the implementation of research projects, including data collection, surveys, interviews, focus groups, and participatory methods.
    • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate statistical and analytical techniques, software, and tools.
    • Interpret research findings, identify trends, patterns, and insights, and draw conclusions to inform policy and programming.
    • Manage and maintain the TPLPI research database

    Report Writing and Dissemination:

    • Prepare research reports, briefs, and presentations summarizing key findings, conclusions, and recommendations for internal and external audiences.
    • Ensure research outputs are accessible, engaging, and tailored to diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, advocates, activists, and community members.
    • Disseminate research findings through publications, conferences, workshops, webinars, and other platforms to maximize impact and influence.
    • Prepare research abstract for internal and external use (conference, symposium, event, campaign, etc)

    Collaboration and Partnerships:

    • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, academic institutions, and research networks to leverage expertise, resources, and opportunities for collaboration.
    • Foster relationships with researchers, scholars, and practitioners working on sexual and gender minority issues to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and promote collaboration.
    • Represent the organization in research-related forums, conferences, and working groups to showcase our work and contribute to broader discussions on LGBTQI rights and equality.

    Capacity Building and Training:

    • Provide training and technical assistance to staff, volunteers, partners, and community members on research methods, ethics, and data analysis.
    • Build the research capacity of TPLPI and other organizations through workshops, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
    • Support the development of research skills, competencies, and resources within the organization to sustain a culture of evidence-based practice and learning.

    Qualifications:

    • Degree in social science, public health, mathematics/statistics, or professional certificate in the related field.
    • 1-2 years of experience in research management, preferably in the field of gender & sexual rights, social justice, or human rights.
    • Strong background in research design, methodology, and data analysis, with expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
    • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Stata, R) and qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti).
    • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex research findings to diverse audiences.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage research projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, timeline management, and quality assurance.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.
    • Basic knowledge of CHS Accountability Standards and Humanitarian principles including the Code of Conduct, Protection of beneficiaries, Age and Disability Inclusion in Humanitarian activities.
