A Warehouse Officer is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of a warehouse or distribution center by performing various tasks related to inventory management, logistics, and warehouse organization.

Job Brief:

As a Warehouse Officer, you will assist in managing inventory, coordinating shipments, and maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment. Your role involves performing a range of duties to support warehouse operations and ensure timely receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in receiving incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders, and recording receipt of goods in inventory management systems.
  • Inspect and check incoming goods for damage, discrepancies, or defects, reporting any issues to the warehouse manager and coordinating with vendors or suppliers for resolution.
  • Perform physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and stock checks to ensure accuracy of inventory records and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system data.
  • Prepare goods for storage or shipment, labeling, tagging, and categorizing items according to storage requirements, product type, and destination.
  • Assist in organizing warehouse space, arranging shelves, racks, and storage areas to optimize space utilization, accessibility, and efficiency.
  • Pick and pack orders for shipment, selecting items from inventory, assembling orders, and preparing them for dispatch, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of order fulfillment.
  • Load and unload trucks, containers, or pallets using manual or powered equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks, following safety procedures and handling guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the warehouse, sweeping floors, removing debris, and disposing of waste materials, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and stock replenishment needs, alerting warehouse manager of low stock levels, overstock situations, or potential stockouts to facilitate timely ordering and replenishment.
  • Assist in inventory reconciliation and stock adjustments, documenting inventory movements, adjustments, and transfers in inventory management systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Prepare shipping documents, packing slips, and labels for outgoing shipments, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations, customer requirements, and documentation standards.
  • Coordinate with logistics providers, carriers, and freight forwarders to schedule pickups, deliveries, and transportation of goods, tracking shipments and resolving logistics issues as needed.
  • Assist in conducting regular safety inspections, equipment checks, and preventive maintenance activities on warehouse equipment, reporting any defects or malfunctions for repair.
  • Provide support to warehouse staff and assist in training new hires on warehouse procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and company policies governing warehouse operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain management is a plus.
  • Previous experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, or logistics support roles is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of inventory management principles, warehouse procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, with proper training and certification.
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy objects, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform manual tasks in a warehouse environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in performing inventory counts, data entry, and recordkeeping tasks.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory management software, barcode scanners, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, following instructions and collaborating with coworkers to achieve common goals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and priorities with minimal supervision.
