    Chief Legal Officer

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as Chief Legal Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the legal department of a dynamic organization that is committed to excellence and sustainable growth.

    Responsibilities
    As the Chief Legal Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing all legal affairs within Azikel Group. Your key responsibilities will include:

    • Providing strategic legal advice and guidance to the executive management team and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and legal opinions.
    • Managing and supervising the legal department, including a team of lawyers and support staff.
    • Assessing and managing legal risks associated with business operations and proposing risk mitigation strategies.
    • Representing the company in legal proceedings, including litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters.
    • Developing and implementing legal policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
    • Collaborating with external legal counsel, government agencies, and other stakeholders on legal and regulatory issues.
    • Keeping abreast of changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations and advising management accordingly.
    • Conducting legal research and providing timely and accurate legal opinions to support business decision-making.

    Requirements
    To be considered for the role of Chief Legal Officer, you should meet the following requirements:

    • A Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university. A Master's degree in Law (LL.M.) or an MBA would be an advantage.
    • A minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
    • A thorough understanding of Nigerian laws and regulations, particularly in areas relevant to the company's business operations.
    • Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor a team of legal professionals.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Sound judgment and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
