    Technical Associate, Prevention

    Job purpose

    • The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our HIV programme by coordinating and implementing targeted interventions for Key Populations (KPs) in the state.
    • This position is critical in ensuring that HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and support services reach KPs, which includes Female Sex Workers (FSW), Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), Transgender persons (TG), People Who Inject Drugs (PWID), and People in Prisons or enclosed settings.
    • The job holder will be responsible for providing real time hands-on technical support and monitoring of the implementation of HIV prevention services delivery and treatment services uptake (linkage and enrollment, drug refill and viral load bleeding and monitoring) by KP-led or/and KP-competent CBOs, at the community and health facilities (OSS and KP-friendly facilities).

    Duties and responsibilities
    Program Development and Management:

    • Provide technical support and onsite implementation, monitoring and evaluation of HIV Prevention Programs including KP Testing and Counseling, Provider Initiated Testing and Counseling (PITC), Family Index Testing, Partner Notification Services/Social Network Testing, HIV Self-Testing, and Paediatrics Intensified Case finding (PICF)
    • Conduct quarterly Data Quality Assessment /Technical Assistance visits to KP CBOs and facilities implementing community/prevention programme in the state.
    • Support site supervision using standard check list to ensure adherence to set standard in line with KP program directives
    • Support facilities and KP CBOs implementing KP prevention services to manage commodity logistics, consumables, RTKs and other materials required for successful deployment of prevention intervention among KPs.
    • Support KP CBOs and health facilities to screen and provide Mental Health (MH) services to KPs, as well as coordinate and strengthen MH referral pathways and documentation
    • Support and strengthen KP  CBOs capacity in the use of virtual platforms for different HIV services to KPs

    Capacity building:

    • Strengthen Gender integration/mainstreaming into the different points of KP service delivery, at community and OSS facility
    • Build and strengthen KP CBOs’ capacity to provide paralegal support to members of KPs

    Reporting:

    • Provide support for the deployment of appropriate data capturing and M&E tools to KP program implementation locations at the OSS and in the community.
    • Provide support for the collation of weekly and monthly service delivery reports in addition to data quality audits alongside the M&E teams.

    Interagency partnership:

    • Liaise with sub national units of GON like State Agency for Control of AIDS (SACA), State Ministry of Health (SMOH), Hospital Management Boards (HMB) and Prevention Technical Working Groups (TWG)
    • Work with stakeholders and TWGs to advocate for policies and practices that promote the rights and well-being of KPs, including access to comprehensive healthcare services.
    • Work closely with relevant stakeholders, especially Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to develop and implement initiatives to reduce stigma and discrimination and other barriers hindering access of KPs to health services.

    Others:

    • Perform other duties and tasks as required by supervisor and other management staff.

    Qualifications

    • Must possess a First Degree in Sciences or Social Sciences from any recognized university.

    Specialized knowledge / Experience:

    • A minimum of three (3) years cognate experience in an NGO or donor-funded environment with expertise in the design, implementation and monitoring of HIV Prevention, Care & Support program including special interventions to improve HIV testing yield.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Familiar with the design, implementation and monitoring of prevention programs
    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Interpersonal and team building skills
    • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
    • Strong advocacy and community mobilization skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and key population representatives.
    • Computer literacy/skills in usage of personal productivity tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet browsing, emailing, etc)
    • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting
    • Pro-active and ability to use own initiative
    • Working knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment.
