    Wellsite Geologist

    Description 

    • We are looking to recruit a formidable well Engineering team for an upcoming project.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluating offset data before the start of drilling
    • Analyzing, evaluating and describing formations while drilling, using cuttings, gas, formation evaluation measurement while drilling (FEMWD), and wireline data
    • Comparing data gathered during drilling with predictions made at the exploration stage
    • Advising on drilling hazards and drilling bit optimization
    • Making decisions about suspending or continuing drilling. Ultimately, it’s the wellsite geologist’s responsibility to decide when drilling should be suspended or stopped.
    • Advising operations personnel both on the rig and in the onshore operations office about any pertinent geological or drilling information as it arises.
    • Supervising mudlogging, MWD (Measurement while drilling)/LWD (logging while drilling), and wireline services personnel, and monitoring quality control in relation to these services.
    • Keeping detailed records, writing reports, completing daily, weekly and post-well reporting logs, and sending these to appropriate departments.
    • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of LWD and MWD tools and status of all equipment onboard and in transit to make sure the equipment is available and in working order when it is needed.
    • As a single point of contact between the Exploration team and Drilling team during drilling operations.
    • Monitoring the formation evaluations program with massive communication to the Wellsite Geologist on the rig site.
    • Preparing the Geological Well Program and presenting the materials during the Pre-spud meeting to drilling contractors.
    • Participating in the procurement process, especially for drilling and formation evaluation contractors.
    • Producing a flow chart for the coring protocol and formation evaluations program (i.e., Mud logging, LWD/MWD, Wireline logging, Bio stratigraphy, core analysis).
    • Managing all data relating to geological data and formation evaluation from drilling operations.
    • Responsible for the daily geological report to update the G&G team during drilling operations.
    • Producing the final well report, including a composite log.
    • The incumbent will support the Senior Wellsite Geologist by performing all assigned tasks in relation to (but not limited to):
    • Planning and supervision of geological operations in the course of drilling
    • Adherence to safety protocols, Company Rules (CR), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and training related to the role. Ensuring service company personnel being supervised are equally HSE compliant in training and service delivery.
    • Reviewing quality, accuracy, and unambiguity of geoscience data acquired at the Wellsite and associated reporting (Shows/Cuttings descriptions, well composite logs and Final Well reports, Post-Mortems, REX, etc.).
    • Ensuring timely dispatch of Wellsite reports (e.g., Daily Geological Reports) and geoscience data to Town.
    • Anticipating, correlating, and reporting of Well and geological events (Faults, reservoir tops, OVP zones, etc.).
    • Contribution to the improvement of data acquisition Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and best practices.
    • Supervision of the Mud Logging crew to ensure that Cutting’s descriptions and Shows identification/descriptions are consistent with best practices, that Sensors/equipment are functional, and that real-time data is reliable.
    • Ensuring Well samples: Cuttings, fluid, Cores, etc. are handled, packaged, stored, and shipped as per SOP.

    Requirements

    • Interested candidates should possess a Master's Degree in relevant fields with 5 years work experience
