    Dean, School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE)

    Description

    • The American University of Nigeria is looking for a candidate for appointment as Dean of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship to provide strategic leadership and management in the academic and operational development of the School.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Reporting to the Provost, the Dean of the School provides academic leadership and operational management for the School consistent with the University’s mission, strategic direction, and identity as an entrepreneurial and development-oriented higher education institution.
    • The Dean plays a critical role in supporting program innovation and improving student experience aligned to the needs of business, and development needs of the nation, and is a critical interface for collaborative ventures with other segments of the University, industry partners, and international organizations on shared goals.
    • The Dean plays a vital role in enabling research across the key domains of all academic business areas supporting a vibrant academic culture.
    • Motivating and communicating effectively with faculty members, staff, students and external stakeholders are vital aspects of this role, as well as contributing to the successful development, learning, professional accreditation, and employment outcomes of students.

    The Candidate

    • Applications are encouraged from ardent, enthusiastic, and engaging business academics with proven records in academic management at senior levels and delivering impactful academic leadership in teaching and learning, research and scholarship, professional activities, liberal arts education, and community engagement. 
    • The position also requires demonstrable ability to clearly articulate the School's vision and mission to stakeholders, including the students, faculty, alumni, and external funding agencies; and experience in innovative course and program design and review.  
    • Applicants should have a Doctorate Degree from internationally-recognized, accredited university.
    • Applicants should also ideally have at least 5 (five) years of senior level administrative experience at an Educational institute.
    • A strong commitment to development, an understanding of the essential values of academic integrity, civility, collegiality and diversity in a community of learners, and a distinguished record of achievements in scholarship and service are also required.
    • The Dean would normally be expected to be at least an Associate Professor with substantial academic experience.
    • Candidates who have experience working on business and entrepreneurship development projects are encouraged to apply as well as experience supervising and participating in funded projects.

    Requirements

    • Doctoral level or other terminal professional degree required from an accredited institution.
    • At least 2 - 4 years’ experience as a Dean is a desirable.

    • Proven administrative experience, professional integrity, and strong team-building skills.
    • Demonstrable ability to clearly articulate the School’s vision and mission to stakeholders, including the students, faculty, alumni, and external funding agencies.

    Vice President Administration / Registrar

    Description

    • In accordance with the American University of Nigeria Bye-Law [2020], the VP Admin/Registrar is a Principal Officer and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the affairs of the University except financial matters, which fall within the jurisdiction of the Bursar.
    • The VP Administration/Registrar is the chief administrative officer of the University and the repository of University documents/records.
    • The VP Administration/Registrar is an ex-officio member of the Governing Council, and the Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation AND Convocation.
    • The VP Administration/Registrar is a member of the University Management and Head of the University Registry.
    • The candidate must be a person of proven integrity, possess high moral character, an excellent manager of human resources and a team player. He must be a person with proven leadership qualities and great inter-personal skills.
    • The job demands a person who can instill confidence in others as well as command loyalty and respect of people. The person must understand the complexity of a University system and be capable of harnessing the potentials of subordinates to attain the overall goals of the University.
    • The right candidate must have the ability to develop linkages with the external communities to support the emerging needs of the University, command respect and engender cooperation and loyalty of staff and students of the University. He must enjoy good health.

    Qualifications and Experience
    Applicants for the post of VP Administration/Registrar, American University of Nigeria should possess:

    • A good (Honours) Degree plus fifteen (15) years post qualification relevant administrative experience in University or comparable institution, with a minimum of five (5) years at the Management level;
    • Possession of relevant higher degree or postgraduate professional qualification in appropriate field(s);
    • Candidate must be competent in the use of ICT for management services;
    • Candidate must have served for NOT less than five (5) years at the level of Deputy Registrar in a University or comparable institution;
    • Membership of Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators [ANUPA] and relevant professional associations is mandatory.

    Age Requirement:

    • Candidates for the positions of VP Administration/Registrar must not be above the age of sixty-one (61) years at the time of assumption of duty.

    Tenure

    • In consonance with the American University of Nigeria Bye-Laws [2020], the appointment of VP Administration/Registrar is for a TERM of two [2] years renewable on mutual agreement.

    Remuneration
    Remuneration is competitive, in line with the American University of Nigeria benefits, AND allowances, as may be approved by the Governing Council, the American University of Nigeria.

    Graduate Assistant Program

    Job Description

    • American University of Nigeria (AUN) invites applications for American Graduate Assistant Program positions in all its Schools. 

    About the Program

    • The American University of Nigeria endeavors to employ more U.S. Citizens who are early in their careers to come to Yola, Adamawa State and serve the campus community through service and activities. 
    • Those that are admitted must meet the credentials to be admitted into the graduate program (post-graduate in Nigeria) to study in the Master of Science in Communications for Social and Behavioral Change. 
    • The academic program is in conjunctions with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and consists of 36 credits and can be completed in two years.  Those that are successfully employed will report to the Director of Sustainability who coordinates the President’s Office community service. 
    • They will serve around campus helping with areas identified by the President, Dean of Students, Director of Campus Activities and Director of Community Service (students). 

    Terms of Agreement

    • On-campus single room in student Residence Hall (Hostel), if not possible because of space challenges, the student may have one roommate of the same gender. 
    • Two swipes to eat in the student cafeteria whenever the facility is open.
    • A stipend will be offered on a monthly basis to assist with cost of living necessities (#50,000)
    • Health service will be provided at the AUN Clinic
    • All tuition and fees covered during the time of employment in the Master of Science Program
    • For each six months of service, the American G.A. is allotted a one-way ticket and for one year, they are entitled to a roundtrip (return) ticket to the United States. 
    • Employee is on a 9-month service contract and will only work while students are at the university, meaning in the summer months’ post-graduation, and during the Christmas and New Year Holidays they are not required to be on campus. 
    • All the American G.A.s will be on a Nigerian student visa and will receive support from AUN for obtaining the necessary documents from Nigerian Immigration.  American passports are required and not covered under the program.
    • The G.A.s will work a maximum of 29 hours per week to assist with the program activities as appropriate. 

    Remuneration
    Remuneration is competitive, in line with the American University of Nigeria benefits, AND allowances, as may be approved by the Governing Council, the American University of Nigeria.
