Accountant at Insecta Studios

What we are looking for

• We’re seeking a smart, driven and trustworthy accountant to join our team. A minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience is required, and it's a full-time hybrid role, so only candidates living in Lagos should apply.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include carrying out the following duties for Insecta and its products/brands:

• Preparing financial documents (quotes, invoices, etc.), recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring that financial statements are accurate and up-to-date.
• Preparing periodic financial reports such as balance sheets, profit & loss statements, etc. This includes monthly, quarterly, annually and as directed by the management.
• Computing tax returns and paying all relevant taxes; keeping up-to-date and ensuring compliance with all applicable financial regulations and laws.
• Using specialised software to manage our financial processes (Quickbooks, Sage, etc.).
• Compiling, analysing and reporting financial data (e.g. sales revenues, liabilities, etc.) to identify & assess trends, make forecasts, and provide insights into the financial health of Insecta and its products.
• Assisting management in its decision-making processes by preparing budgets and financial forecasts, and advising on investment strategies, accounting procedures, etc.
• Organising and maintaining an accurate database for company assets, documents, processes, inventories, supplies, etc. and implementing and managing insurance covers as needed.
• Managing financial and administrative correspondence, responding to enquiries by clients & vendors, and directing resolution to the proper sources.
• Developing, recommending and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, protect the confidentiality of information and improve overall company efficiency.

Requirements for the role

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• Understanding of mathematics and accounting and financial practices and regulations
• Experience with executing the responsibilities outlined above
• Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills
• Prompt, honest, detail-oriented and professional
• Excellent presentation skills with the ability to successfully communicate complex quantitative data in simple, effective ways
