    Associate Director

    Role Overview:

    • The Associate Director will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing Surge Africa’s operations and programmatic systems to ensure organisational sustainability. Read more here. This role is fully remote.

    Responsibilities

    • The Associate Director design, implement, and oversee effective management and growth of systems, operations and programs within the organization, overseeing finances and HR, regulatory compliance and organisational sustainability.
    • Work closely with the Director to promote the growth and healthy development of the organisation including strategic planning, annual goal setting, and day-to-day operations.
    • Lead in building and implementing SAO’s strategic roadmaps, ensure the improvement of quality delivery of programs.
    • Facilitate grant writing activities and see to fundraising.
    • Assist in management and oversight of budget, fundraising, and project reporting.
    • Expand our network of partners and manage stakeholder engagement
    • Manage staff officers in specific work streams
    • Coordinate hiring of staff.

    Qualifications

    • 8 + years relevant experience in a senior managerial role (With explicit experience in the Climate).
    • A strong sense of teamwork and ability to both manage multiple teams, and execute multiple programs concurrently
    • Strong relationship management skills with experience engaging with broad array of networks, partners and funders
    • An extremely proactive and determined attitude.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
    • Ability to multitask and good hold of strong organisational skills,
    • Polite, clear and compelling communication skills.
    • Experience in human resources policies and procedures and/or with compensation and benefits
    • An excellent understanding of climate change and its landscape.
