    Buyer Assistant

    Job Description

    • Fulfills simple inquiring and purchasing activities within time and budget
    • Makes sure all the information necessary for issuing the inquiry is available • Prepares the purchase order documents in due time and checks for quality; follows-up and expedites as necessary
    • Supports in negotiations with vendors, within established guidelines
    • Assists more senior colleagues, as requested

    You are meant for this job if:

    • B.A. or B.S. in business administration, procurement, operations, or related field.
    • Minimum five years professional experience in purchasing or materials management.
    • Demonstrated experience with supply chain management, supplier quality systems, and awareness of industry cost drivers and implementation of sourcing strategies.
    • Must have thorough understanding of the requirements of DBI (Database Information), specifications for the part or similar product.
    • Must have a thorough understanding of machining and manufacturing processes and be familiar with steel products.
    • Needs strong knowledge of organizational structure.
    • When involved with outsourcing, must be familiar with supplier capabilities including quality, capacity, NDE capabilities, etc.
    • Must demonstrate exceptional negotiation skills, planning skills and strong interpersonal skills to interact with suppliers and co-workers in a team-based environment. Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume environment with minimum supervision.
    • PC skills including spreadsheet and word processing and MANMAN or similar mainframe experience.
    • Technical, metallurgical, or engineering background helpful.
    • Negotiation skills
