    Chief of Staff

    Job Summary

    • AfriLabs is actively seeking a Chief of Staff who will assume a pivotal role in offering strategic leadership and operational support to both the executive team and the organisation as a whole.
    • Serving as a primary advisor to the Executive Director or senior executive, the Chief of Staff will ensure the synchronisation of organisational objectives, facilitate communication across various stakeholders, and spearhead the implementation of critical initiatives.
    • Additionally, the Chief of Staff will engage directly with the AfriLabs Board, fostering collaboration and alignment with organizational goals.

    Responsibilities:

    • Managing and coordinating the work of the executive team: Overseeing daily operations to ensure alignment with the organisation’s goals.
    • Developing and implementing strategic plans and initiatives: Working closely with the Executive Director to drive organisational success.
    • Ensuring efficient and effective operations: Streamlining processes and procedures to enhance productivity.
    • Building and maintaining external relationships: Cultivating partnerships with industry leaders, community organisations, and government officials to support the mission and objectives.
    • Advising the Executive Director: Providing strategic and operational guidance on various matters.
    • Serving as a liaison: Acting as the primary point of contact between the Executive Director and other members of the organisation.
    • Handling sensitive information: Managing confidential data with discretion.
    • Representing the organisation: Showcasing achievements and thought leadership at industry conferences, events, and meetings.
    • Leading special projects: Overseeing initiatives assigned by the Executive Director to ensure successful completion.
    • Conducting research and analysis: Monitoring industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues to inform decision-making.
    • Facilitating cross-functional collaboration: Promoting innovation and continuous improvement across departments.
    • Providing administrative support for board-related initiatives: Ensuring seamless execution of board activities.
    • Managing Board meeting logistics: Preparing presentations, taking minutes, and following up on resolutions to ensure continuity.
    • Handling Board-related communications: Liaising with the board secretary and managing interactions with board members.
    • Following up on action points: Ensuring timely completion of tasks with the board and Secretariat.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
    • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as a Chief of Staff or similar position.
    • Strong strategic planning and execution skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders.
    • High level of integrity and professionalism.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience in the NGO sector.
    • Experience in project management and change management.
    • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends.
