    Corporate Affairs Officer

    Purpose

    • The Corporate Affairs Officer, working with the Executive Director (ED) will be responsible for supporting the organization’s fundraising initiatives and donation programs. A track record in successfully securing funding from organizations and high value individuals within Nigeria and abroad, meeting targets; building relationships with high-net-worth individuals (HNWI’s); and cementing long term funding. S/he will establish and manage communication with sponsors and potential donors, has a significant role to contributing to the overall growth and sustainability of the organization.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

    • Strategic relationship building: Maintaining internal and external relationships critical to fundraising activities to achieve objectives.
    • Converting identified organizations and high-value individuals to supporters/donors. Networking across our thematic areas to further build relations with NGO’s and key stakeholders.
    • Manage positive relationships with existing donors (including impact investors, venture philanthropists, high net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporate organizations), stewarding relationships, providing updates on program outcomes and impact, and expressing gratitude for contributions.
    • Converting identified organizations and high-value individuals to supporters/donors. Networking across our thematic areas to further build relations with NGO’s and key stakeholders.
    • Collaborating with the internal teams to develop and deliver high-quality bids targeting new donors and HNWIs to support the PDF’s funding strategy. Strategy and Planning: Growing the portfolio to engage new prospects through the development and implementation of operational plans that support our fundraising strategies.
    • Market understanding: develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the corporate social responsibility agenda of corporate organizations/partners in Nigeria.
    • Develop and support the execution of fundraising events, develop and implement strategies.
    • Writing Funding Proposals: Prepare compelling funding proposals that specific funding needs to be sent to potential sponsors, donors, and grant-making organizations.
    • Implement fundraising programs and strategies to increase revenue from donors e.g. marathons, walks, or other creative fundraising initiatives.
    • Conduct research and identify potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors aligned with our mission and funding priorities.
    • Collaborate with donor organizations to create funding proposals and budgets for specific projects
    • Organizing Donation Campaigns: Develop and manage fundraising campaigns that encourage individuals and businesses to donate. These campaigns may focus on specific projects, emergency relief, or ongoing operational needs
    • Direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns: Manage email campaigns, donation landing pages, and social media fundraising efforts.
    • Handle social media management including graphics and content Maintaining legal and compliance obligations for partners.
    • Maintaining detailed records of sponsors and their contributions and fundraising. Analyses fundraising data and trends to identify areas for improvement and inform effective future strategies for the ED.
    • Creating Marketing and Promotional Activities: Design marketing materials, promotional campaigns, and outreach strategies.
    • Attract donors and raise awareness of PDF’s cause through social media, newsletters, and direct mail.
    • Support the development of engaging content for the organization's website, newsletters, and social media platforms.
    • Advocate for the organization's mission and objectives within the community and with policymakers.
    • Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness of program activities and outcomes.
    • Training Volunteers: Empower volunteers by training them on effective fundraising techniques, donor communication, and event coordination.
    • Collaborate with volunteers who assist in event planning, outreach, and other fundraising activities. Coordinate their efforts to ensure successful campaigns. Generate reports: Prepare reports on fundraising activities, campaign results, and donor engagement for internal and external stakeholders.

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • HND, B.Sc. or its equivalent, and/or Master’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, social sciences, Non-Profit Management, International Development, or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years and above strong track record of successful and professional experience in Fundraising, volunteer fundraising, sales, grant writing and proposal development, preferably in a non-profit setting.
    • Communication (written & verbal): Writing compelling grant proposals, crafting effective fundraising appeals (emails, letters, social media posts), and delivering impactful presentations.
    • Strong ability to clearly and persuasively articulate your organization's mission, the impact of donations, and the value proposition for donors.
    • Excellent marketing, research, data analysis, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
    • History of meeting or exceeding financial targets and soliciting gifts from donors and prospects, or businesses in a commercial setting
    • Knowledge of the principles of major donor, corporate, and foundation fundraising. Excellent relationship building skills
    • Research and Analytical Skills
    • Significant experience of successful face-to-face donor/customer contact, building long-term relationships
    • Extensive experience and knowledge of good fundraising practice and relevant legal issues or equivalent from a commercial setting.
    • Experience with donor relationship management software (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce).
    • Strong experience in digital fundraising: e-mail marketing, online support and donation drive
    • Experience with event planning and management and project management Excellent inter-personal, persuasion, and organizational skills, time management, working in a team and independently, and strong leadership qualities
    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, analytical tools, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Basic knowledge, graphic design, etc.

    • Creativity and Innovation: The fundraising landscape is constantly evolving. Strong creative ability to develop new fundraising strategies and campaigns to stay ahead of the curve.
