    Enterprise Wide Risk Officer

    Job Purpose

    • To facilitate, integrate and coordinate risk
    • To create a culture of risk awareness within the organization
    • To formally bring consideration of risk into the strategic decision making process
    • To communicate to all stakeholders – internal and external – about risk
    • To ensure compliance with the extant laws and regulations that govern First Marina Trust Limited business
    • To ensure that First Marina Trust Limited abides with all Central Bank of Nigeria’s regulations as relates to Finance Houses
    • To ensure that Compliance Risk is adequately identified, described, reported, controlled, and monitored to reduce impact on shareholder value and all stakeholders
    • To ensure that all staff of First Marina Trust Limited abide by their operational manuals and job functions

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • To monitor compliance with the policies, procedures, operational manuals of First Marina Trust Limited and report same to Management.
    • To conduct investigations of possible breaches of the Compliance policy, any other company policy, statutory regulations, CBN regulations, operational manuals, and staff Hand Book and to recommend appropriate disciplinary actions and measures to avoid a recurrence.
    • To report to the Chief Risk Officer on FMTL’s Management of its Compliance risk, in such a manner as to assist the Board Risk Committee to make an informed judgment whether FMTL is managing its Compliance risks effectively
    • Monitors overall Regulatory and Economic Capital Adequacy
    • Aligns developments in the risk areas with the requirements of the CBN under their risk-based supervisory framework
    • Ensures that the risk-reward profile supports the overall risk appetite and tolerance of FMTL (including all business units) on an integrated basis
    • Continually and consistently monitors FMTL’s risk universe
    • Undertake regular and frequent calls, site visits, follow-up’s to implement remedial strategies and action plans agreed with Credit Risk Officer.
    • Initiate demand and reminding letters to all defaulting customers
    • Continuous progress reports on negotiations with debtors in respect of repayment of indebtedness
    • Follow up on sale of securities deposited for collateral alongside the legal department after other remedial strategies have been exhausted
    • Preparation and recommendation of strategies for recoveries on major assigned accounts to the Chief Risk officer.

    Job Knowledge:

    • Risk policies, risk appetite and risk limits

    • Ensure lines of business have risk capacity both in personnel and risk systems
    • Statutory and regulatory compliance requirement or prerequisites
