    Field & Cable Landing Station Manager

    Job Objective:

    • Lead and manage the field engineering team to provide field support and resolve escalated incidents.
    • Maintain the WIOCC Network and allocated submarine cable systems and stations.
    • Serve as the regional field expert within the company.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • 24/ Lead and manage 24/7 regional team, escalation / on-call
    • Oversee daily operations of the allocated cable landing stations
    • Manage facilities and supplier management
    • Coordinate with technical teams for system upgrades and repairs
    • Establish and manage routine maintenance activities
    • Lead problem resolution relating to issues
    • Manage spares inventory, local records and data reconciliation
    • Manage the lab and bench testing area
    • Network installation, testing & commissioning, bringing into service, integration
    • Network quality and performance management
    • Creation of routine & ad hoc reports as needed
    • Champion the development, use of and ensure data integrity of systems
    • Innovate, report on and continually improve on operational and network KPIs
    • Service reporting excellence for both internal, clients and suppliers
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards
    • Implement security protocols to protect the facility and data
    • Lead and manage technicians and support staff, provide training and conduct performance reviews
    • Prepare and manage the department budget, monitor and optimise operational costs
    • Manage all operational aspects of submarine cable systems, including Marine segments
    • Assist other departments, lead and report on projects as requested by the Programme Manager
    • Adhere to, lead compliance with and develop Company policies and procedures

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in a technical field with equivalent work experience equivalent in a telecommunications industry
    • Technical certifications CCNA or JNCIA, CCNP or JNCP (desirable) or equivalent work experience
    • Valid full driver’s license

    Minimum Experience & Skills

    • Requires a minimum of 10 years of technical experience in the telecom industry, with desirably at least 5 years in second-level technical support or equivalent and essentially 5 years in a leadership role
    • Knowledge of platforms including OTN, DWDM, SDH, Data (Ethernet, IP/MPLS, OSPF, BGP)
    • Knowledge in supporting transmission and switching equipment i.e Mikrotik, Juniper, Tejas Networks, Ciena, Infinera, Nokia, etc
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills evidenced by previous work history and accomplishments
    • Excellent communication and soft skills, including the ability to listen, summarise and concisely share key information with clients
    • Must use B/OSS tools effectively to record information accurately and concisely in a timely manner
    • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong technical knowledge of submarine cable systems and network infrastructure
    • Proven leadership, team management skills, excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
