    Grant Accountant Officer

    • The Grant Account Officer is a vital member of the WBFA finance team, responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial management of grant-funded programs. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong accounting skills and experience in a non-profit setting.
    • You will work collaboratively with the Director of Finance, Endowment Account Manager, Grant Account Manager, and Endowment Account Officer to ensure financial compliance with donor restrictions and WBFA policies.

    Responsibilities

    • Process grant receipts and disbursements in accordance with donor agreements and WBFA accounting procedures.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed grant accounting records, including budgets, expenditures, and accruals.
    • Prepare grant reports for donors as required by their agreements.
    • Assist with grant budgeting and forecasting.
    • Monitor grant activity to ensure compliance with donor restrictions and WBFA policies.
    • Prepare reconciliation statements for grant accounts.
    • Close out grant accounts upon completion of the program.
    • Assist with internal audits related to grant funding.
    • Perform other financial tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in grant accounting or a related field
    • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and non-profit accounting practices
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience working with donor restrictions
    • Experience with grant budgeting and forecasting
    • Experience with a non-profit accounting software package (QuickBooks Non-Profit, etc.)
    • Knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations
