    Health Program Officer

    Description 

    • We are preparing for an anticipated health service utilization and quality of care activity in Zamfara state for a 6-month period and look to expand our team to enable us to deliver on this project in partnership with the Zamfara state Ministry of Health. 

    Specific Responsibilities

    • We are seeking a skilled and passionate health program officer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in health programming, especially in the area of health systems strengthening and quality of care to work with secondary and primary healthcare facilities to improve the utilization of services by insurance enrolees and provision of improved quality of care by selected facilities, with support from the State Ministry of Health and relevant agencies.
    • You will work closely with health facilities to identify business challenges to deliver quality of care and design and implement facility-level QoC initiatives to meet agreed performance results.

    The Health program Officer is expected to perform the following tasks:

    • Support health facilities to facilitate a digital baseline assessment of their health systems and quality of care practices.
    • Support the implementation of a digital client exit baseline and endline interview process.
    • Support validation of the digital self-assessment in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and relevant agencies.
    • Implement mechanisms to improve awareness of service availability to enrollees under Zamfara State contributory health care Management Agency.
    • Support design and implementation of quality of care initiatives in selected facilities to ensure improved user experience and service delivery.
    • Liaise with and advocate to the Ministry of Health and relevant Ministries and Agencies to support service utilization and quality in supported facilities.
    • Undertake travels to support facilities to provide on-site capacity strengthening in facility improvement work plan development and implementation.
    • Facilitate regular online quarterly progress meetings with health facilities and relevant stakeholders.
    • Lead in the development of a knowledge management plan and production of Knowledge management content based on learnings from the activity implementation.
    • Submit regular monthly reports and other reports as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health and any other related development studies.
    • Proven experience in health system programming or service delivery at the primary or secondary health care level.
    • Training on Project management is a plus.
    • Good working knowledge of the health care system in Nigeria especially Zamfara state.
    • Experience working in an NGO or INGO in Zamfara state operating within the health system
    • Familiarity with the terrain in Zamfara state. Current residency in Zamfara state is a plus.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
