    HSE Engineer / Safety Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Interface with the HSE Head, Project Managers, and other member’s staff as required in the project team.
    • Prepare and implement the HSE Management and Training Plans for Office, Project (or Site) as may be required.
    • Carry out project HSE Review to ensure that all specified requirements, including relevant legislation and regulations are being addressed.
    • Carry out internal safety audits and assessments of the organization and project site, including subcontracts, to ensure that HSE standards are being implemented effectively. Additionally, coordinate the external audits required for ISO 45001 certification/sustenance.
    • Perform Incident and Near Miss investigation and write the Incident report; identify and adviseon corrective actions and monitor their implementation.
    • Define leading and lagging indicators and monitor of the performance; define areas for improvement and report to the Safety Manager.
    • Support and advise the project team on Safety programs and personnel compliance to good safety practices
    • Contribute to the planning and implementation of risk assessment and control measures.
    • Responsible for all the Office and Project HES matters including complies with the safety regulations at the local, national, and international levels.
    • Organize all HES meetings and assists in such areas as action plans for accident prevention and setting of realistic Safety targets.
    • Develops emergency response procedures for the office and project and ensures communication to the workforce.
    • Uses feedback elements, such as weekly and/or monthly reports, audit reports and safety violation reports, etc., to advise on further training needs where required.
    • Educate employees about safety practices, conducting training sessions, and promoting a culture of safety in the organization
    • Drive the implementation /sustenance of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) that aligns with ISO 45001 standards.
    • Carry out other assignments as may be assigned

    Qualifications/Competence

    Qualifications include:

    • Minimum BSc in Engineering or equivalent
    • Possess 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas operating environment is mandatory.
    • Must have successfully completed the ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 Lead Auditors course, registration with IRCA as a certificated auditor and trainings in NEBOSH are not mandatory but will be an added advantage
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office package.
