    Lead Counsel, Contracts/Business Services

    Objectives

    • Negotiate, draft, review and finalize corporate and consultancy contracts.
    • Support user departments and companies with shared services in procurement and tendering.
    • Corporate Services (Employee/HR Issues and training of legal staff).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare Agreements.
    • Support User Departments on Contract negotiations and reviews.
    • Prepare opinions on employment law concerns, legal opinions on statutory requirements, employee relations and other related Legal matters across the NNPC value chain including Company Policies.
    • Suggest capacity building programs for NNPC lawyers.
    • Provide legal representation in Committees, Project Teams and working groups.
    • Assist in ensuring compliance to trademarks, patents, intellectual property and trade secrets.
    • Suggest and draft response to inquiries from regulatory agencies, customers and the business community.
    • Provide timely and regular reports on the activities of the Unit.

    Educational Qualification

    • A University Degree in Law; Barrister at Law (BL) qualification is a must
    • Professional qualification and membership of relevant professional body is required e.g. NBA

    Competence

    • Negotiation skills.
    • Conflict Resolution skills.
    • Knowledge in Oil and Gas Industry regulations and laws.
    • Knowledge in Legal Case Handling & Analytics.
    • Awareness of statutory laws.
    • Awareness in Legal Advisory.
    • Knowledge in Legislation Interpretation.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 9 years relevant post qualification experience.
    • Experience in the oil and gas industry will be an added advantage.

    Age Limit: 37 years
