    Lead Counsel, Environmental Psc/Jv Dispute Mgt

    Objectives

    Maintain activities required for environmental dispute management relating to Upstream oil and gas spillage/fire incident cases, Downstream oil spillage cases, and ensure the cascade of HSE Regulatory awareness.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Handle and manage all environmental Cause List.
    • Review scientific research related to environmental cases in order to build strong legal arguments.
    • Prepare legal documents such as complaints, motions, briefs, and subpoenas.
    • Research on applicable laws and regulations to form a sound legal argument for cases.
    • Review decided cases to determine if they have grounds for appeal.
    • Monitor legislation and regulations to identify potential conflicts that may affect their cases.
    • Follow up with external Counsel for updates on cases.
    • Ensure HSE Regulatory awareness cascade.

    Educational Qualification

    • A University Degree in Law; Barrister at Law (BL) qualification is a must
    • Professional qualification and membership of relevant professional body is required e.g. NBA

    Competence

    • Knowledge of Oil and Gas Industry regulations.
    • Knowledge of environmental Law.
    • Case management skills.
    • Legal drafting skills.
    • Legal case handling, analytics, and advisory skills.
    • Legislation interpretation skills.
    • Oil and Gas industry Knowledge.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 9 years relevant post qualification experience.
    • Experience in the oil and gas industry will be an added advantage.

    Age Limit: 37 years
