    Lead Pharmacist

    Description

    The Lead Pharmacist at Reliance Health will be responsible for leveraging data and technology to train and supervise pharmacy staff, liaise with pharmaceutical companies to procure high-quality medications, implement quality assurance programs for medication quality, and oversee the performance of logistics vendors to ensure service excellence. 

    The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPoint, as well as other data analytics tools to provide detailed reporting and data-driven decision-making. 

    Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, training pharmacists and technicians to effectively manage medication therapy for diverse patient populations with acute and chronic conditions, and implementing strategies to ensure excellence in service delivery. This role requires strong data analysis, leadership, effective communication, and strategic planning to optimize pharmacy operations and contribute to delivering high-quality patient care for patients and enrollees across Nigeria. 

    Job Responsibilities

    Data Driven Problem Solving:  

    • Proficiency in analyzing pharmacy data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for clinical intervention. 
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive reports to monitor key performance indicators.  
    • Utilize Excel and other Business Intelligence platforms for data analysis, creating dashboards, and generating actionable insights.  
    • Analyze real time data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth.  
    • Implement data-driven strategies to optimize inventory management, reduce waste, and improve patient outcomes.  

    Innovation and Strategic Planning: 

    • Train and support the pharmacy team in the effective use of technological tools.  
    • Skills in managing drug costs and formulary management to optimize medication use and control expenses. 
    • Continuously assess and recommend new technologies to enhance pharmacy services 
    • Ability to oversee and manage multiple projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. 

    Managing Procurement and Logistics: 

    • Understanding of healthcare regulations, including those specific to pharmacy practice and health insurance operations 
    • Oversee work of logistics providers to ensure compliance with SLAs and service delivery  
    • Oversee the procurement of pharmaceutical products and supplies, ensuring cost-effective purchasing.  
    • Manage inventory levels to maintain adequate stock while minimizing excess.  
    •  Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality of products. 

    Clinical Excellence:  

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the pharmacy team to educate patients about medications, adherence and lifestyle modifications  
    • Deep understanding of medications, including their uses, side effects, interactions, and therapeutic benefits. 
    • Ability to assess and make informed decisions on medication therapy management for diverse patient populations. 
    • Knowledge of chronic disease management and the role of medications in managing conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. 

    Leadership and Team Development: 

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with multidisciplinary teams, patients and other key stakeholders 
    • Foster a motivating, collaborative and positive work environment.  
    • Experience in setting performance goals, conducting evaluations, and implementing improvement plans.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree from an accredited institution.  
    • Active pharmacist license in Nigeria  
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a pharmacy setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.  
    • Proficiency in Excel, Power Point and experience with data reporting and analysis.  
    • Strong understanding and experience managing excellence in procurement and logistics within a pharmacy context.  
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.  
    • Ability to adapt to new technologies and drive technological advancements within the team. 
    • Experience with pharmacy management software and electronic health records (EHR).
