    Medical Officer

    Job Summary:

    As a Medical Officer at Healthbridge Specialists, you will become part of an esteemed group of clinicians, involved in the delivery of exceptional high-quality medical care of patients. Under supervision and guidance of surgical and medical consultants, with vast experience of clinical work both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, you will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in delivering consultant-led care, in a conducive health setting designed to deliver world-class medical services to the people of Kano State and beyond.

    Treating patients with the highest level of compassion, care and safety is a fundamental criterion for joining the Healthbridge Team. The multidisciplinary team at Healthbridge have a wealth of experience across all aspects of clinical governance and patient safety principles, and the establishment has in place an efficient health system designed to promote and improve delivery of patient care. This means at Healthbridge specialists hospital you will have access to electronic patient systems and records, make use of quality equipment to care for patients, participate in mandatory training, and be expected to engage in professional development activities. Your health and wellbeing will also be a priority for your manager.

    The medical officer role will involve direct patient contact in the form of clinical consultations and examinations, administration of medication, and bespoke surgical interventions. You will be expected to perform your duties under strict clinical guidelines and policies that support delivery of up-to-date global standard level of healthcare. You will have round the clock access to a senior clinician, and 24-hour managerial support suited to help you carry out your clinical duties. 

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and assessments of patients.
    • Diagnose medical conditions accurately and develop appropriate treatment plans.
    • Prescribe medications and treatments as needed, adhering to ethical and legal guidelines.
    • Monitor patients' progress and response to treatments, adjusting care plans as necessary.
    • Collaborate with other medical specialists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
    • Maintain contemporaneous and up-to-date medical records for each patient.
    • Engage in opportunities for research, continuous medical education, and professional development activities.
    • Provide guidance and support to nursing and support staff in the medical team.
    • Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety and confidentiality

    Requirements:

    • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized medical school.
    • Valid and current medical license to practice in Nigeria.
    • Minimum of 3 years working experience as a Junior Medical Officer (NYSC year included).
    • Practitioner health insurance cover
    • Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
    • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and emergencies effectively.

    Desirable:

    • Second degree in health-related field
    • Previous work experience at tertiary hospital with evidence of engagement in clinical governance activity
    • Previous work experience with use of electronic patient systems
    • Up-to-date knowledge of medical advancements and best practices
    • Experience of medical teaching practice in any capacity in previous training or work roles
