    Peacebuilding Coordinator

    Job Purpose

    • The Peacebuilding Coordinator will lead the design and implementation of peacebuilding initiatives within the Peace and Community Resilience Project.
    • This role ensures that peacebuilding activities are effectively integrated into the project's overall operational framework, fostering community cohesion and resilience through strategic interventions and collaborations.
    • The coordinator will also support the establishment and strengthening of peace clubs and community social cohesion networks, empowering community-based organizations to develop and implement local peace initiatives.

    Responsibilities
    Peacebuilding Strategy and Implementation:

    • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive peacebuilding strategy, including the identification of key indicators and benchmarks to measure success and impact.
    • Coordinate and implement community-based peacebuilding activities, ensuring alignment with the project's objectives to promote sustainable peace and resilience.
    • Provide guidance, resources, and training to enhance the effectiveness and reach of peace clubs and community social cohesion networks.
    • Assist community-based organizations and groups in developing and implementing local peace initiatives, fostering a grassroots approach to conflict resolution.
    • Conduct regular field visits to monitor project implementation, engage with community stakeholders, and identify areas for improvement.
    • Analyze and interpret data related to peacebuilding activities, providing actionable insights and recommendations to enhance project effectiveness.

    Community Engagement and Collaboration:

    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local government, and other stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and support for peacebuilding initiatives.
    • Develop and implement participatory approaches to engage diverse community groups in peacebuilding activities, ensuring inclusivity and representation.
    • Train and support project staff and partners in effective peacebuilding techniques and methodologies, emphasizing capacity-building activities.

    Conflict Resolution and Mediation:

    • Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation processes within communities, addressing grievances and fostering dialogue to promote understanding and cooperation.
    • Establish mechanisms for early warning and response to potential conflicts, ensuring timely intervention and resolution.

    Learning and Knowledge Sharing:

    • Identify, document, and promote lessons learned from peacebuilding activities, using adaptive and reflective approaches to improve future interventions.
    • Develop a knowledge management system to collect and disseminate best practices and lessons learned, fostering an environment of continuous learning and collaboration.
    • Organize reflection and learning sessions among project staff and partners, including workshops and capacity-building sessions, to encourage knowledge exchange.

    Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare, review, and submit detailed reports on peacebuilding activities to the Program Manager and relevant stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Ensure all reports provide actionable recommendations and insights, enhancing project learning and adjustments.

    Capacity Building and Training:

    • Lead the development and implementation of training programs aimed at enhancing the peacebuilding capacity of project staff and partners.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of peacebuilding activities with project objectives and promote a collaborative approach.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Program Manager or project management team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to support all facets of the project.
    • Engage in cross-functional collaboration to ensure peacebuilding activities effectively support and enhance the broader project and organizational objectives.

    Requirements

    • Master’s Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
    • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in peacebuilding roles, preferably within the context of community resilience projects.
    • Advanced expertise in peacebuilding strategy design and implementation, with experience in conflict resolution and mediation.
    • Proven track record in capacity building and training program design and implementation for diverse audiences.
    • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multicultural team environment.

    Skills:

    • Experience with innovative community engagement methods and participatory approaches.
    • Familiarity with donor-specific requirements and reporting standards, particularly in relation to peacebuilding projects.
    • Strong background in collaboration with local stakeholders, government entities, and community organizations.
    • A proactive commitment to gender sensitivity and inclusivity in all peacebuilding and project methodologies.
