    Policy Associate

    Job Summary:

    The Policy Associate provides technical support for policy and advocacy initiatives to increase access to Comprehensive abortion Care, Contraception and Gender Based Violence services.   This position supports the work with stakeholders and policy makers at the national & State levels to ensure access to Comprehensive Abortion Care, Contraception and Gender Based Violence services for women and girls are not compromised.  The Associate will also assist with implementing strategies to improve the enabling environment in the realization of reproductive justice for women and girls in Nigeria.

    Tasks & Responsibilities

    Improve Policy Environment to Increase Women’s access to SRHR information & services.

    • Assist in conceptualizing and implementing programmatic activities aimed at improving the policy environment through engaging with key policy makers and stakeholders.

    Advocacy & Mobilization

    • Research information for drafts of policy briefs, fact sheets and Shadow Reports for influencing policy and increasing access to Comprehensive Abortion Care, Contraception and Gender Based Violence services.
    • Support the development of policy materials like Information Education and Communication materials addressing gaps and recommendations in the legal frameworks around Ipas’s programmatic areas.
    • Support CSOs and CBOs in their advocacy work to hold government accountable on women’s sexual and reproductive health rights.
    • Support the Policy and Advocacy Manager to maintain partnerships and coalitions on reproductive issues with national policy making bodies as well as women’s rights organizations and networks to support Ipas’ mission

    Program Planning, Budgeting and Execution

    • Support fundraising initiatives for policy activities by contributing to donor proposals.
    • Provides assistance in planning and budgeting for policy activities, tracks and monitors policy activities and planned results; may monitor small Policy grants as well.
    • Provides support in implementing Policy activities to meet donor requirements.

    Program Reporting, Learning and Sharing

    • Develop status reports for the policy team on various work plan activities.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelors degree in related field
    • Experience in program planning and management
    • Experience in policy research and advocacy communication skills with a good understanding and knowledge of health systems.
    • Experience developing policy reports and advocacy briefs.
    • Willingness to travel and work additional hours when required.
    • Experience working with reproductive health projects.
