    Project Head-Cities and Climate

    Job Details

    • Develop and execute project plans aimed at delivering climate-related activities and climate-resilient infrastructure; 
    • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, development partners, private sector entities, and other domestic and global stakeholders, to mobilize support and resources for climate impact initiatives.
    • Provide supervision for all ongoing and emerging projects in the organization.
    • Identify funding sources for climate-related initiatives including public and private sources.
    • Develop project proposals that attract climate funding for urban development and climate impact projects.
    • Coordinate and prepare investment proposals for identified projects. 
    • Review all reports, plans, and deliverables and provide inputs or corrections as appropriate.
    • Provide quality control on all technical reports and sign off on all deliverables in conjunction with the Deputy Head of Projects.
    • Analyze investment opportunities, develop innovative financial instruments, and ensure appropriate deployment of climate-related funds for urban development projects.
    • Utilize data-driven insights to discern trends, identify emerging challenges, and seize opportunities to bolster climate resilience strategies uniquely tailored to local needs. 
    • Mentor, guide and nurture project officers, graduate trainees and other junior, and mid-level category of staff to project execution maturity level. 
    • Conduct climate resilient capacity-building sessions, equipping team members, local officials, and broad project stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and skills for climate-resilient and urban infrastructure projects.
    • Generate comprehensive reports and presentations showcasing project status, outcomes, and tangible impact, effectively communicating successes and areas for growth to both internal and external stakeholders, on six months basis.

    The incumbent will be selected based on the following criteria;

    • Bachelor\'s degree required, Master\'s or advanced degree preferred in a field related to Climate Change, Environment, Green Finance, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 8 years of experience in climate change, environment, green finance, project management, or related fields.
    • Strong understanding of climate change issues, climate finance mechanisms, and sustainable development goals.
    • Experience in financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation for climate-related initiatives.
    • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances.
    • Knowledge of environmental and social safeguards, compliance standards, and reporting requirements for climate finance projects.
