Purchasing Manager at Valeo

JOB SPECIFICATION

Valeo Thermal Commercial Vehicles South Africa (Valeo) is looking for a Purchasing Manager based in our Johannesburg site. The candidate must meet the following criteria:

The candidate will have the following allocation of their monthly time:

• 20% Reporting to the Valeo Group
• 40% Reviewing orders based on sales requirements
• 20% Supplier engagement
• 15% for other purchasing related tasks
•  5% for attending internal meetings

Essential Skills:

• Communication

• Competent in drafting of memos to suppliers
• Ability to problem solve
• Excel / Google sheets at a high level
• Excellent time management skills
• In-depth understanding of the market
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills
• Previous management experience would be an advantage

Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Valeo Monthly / Yearly reporting into reporting portals
  Includes review of Group KPI, loading of suppliers onto the PUMA system
• evaluate the purchasing procedures and policies of the company
• control the purchasing department budget
• manage costs via strong negotiation
• work with R&D team on project purchasing
• work with quality department with regards to supplier audits and reviews
• identify cost saving opportunities
• identify supplier weaknesses and ensure contingency plans are developed
• attend daily production meetings to answer as to any shortages
• identify potential issues and develop quick reaction plans
• communication, review and planning with Stores department
• control and question any price increases from suppliers
• ensure suppliers are compliant with the company and group guidelines
• develop and maintain a vision and strategy for the department
• Bachelors degree with modules or training in purchasing
• purchasing experience 
• be ambitious and willing to grow the department within the business
• be able to generate and analyze reports
• have strong communication skills
• have strong negotiation skills
• ability to prepare and monitor budgets and performance
