    Quantity Surveyor

    Job Roles/Responsibilities:

    Cost Estimation:

    • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for maintenance, installation, and construction projects related to crude refining.
    • Analyze project specifications and drawings to identify all relevant cost factors.
    • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather information for cost calculations.

    Budget Management:

    • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring they align with the overall financial goals of the organization.
    • Monitor project expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

    Contract Administration:

    • Prepare and evaluate tender documents, including bills of quantities and contract terms.
    • Participate in the tendering process, reviewing and analyzing bids, and making recommendations for contract awards.

    Change Management

    • Analyze and evaluate variations and change orders proposed by contractors, assessing their impact on project scope, schedule, and cost.

    Variation Analysis:

    • Assess and analyze variations to the original project scope, providing detailed cost impact assessments.
    • Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate documentation and approval of variations.

    Risk Management:

    • Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project costs and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
    • Regularly review and update risk registers, keeping all stakeholders informed.

    Software and Data Management:

    • Utilize quantity surveying software and spreadsheet tools to perform takeoffs, cost estimations, and data analysis.
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of project costs, variations, and contractual documentation.
    • Stay up-to-date with relevant software upgrades and industry best practices in quantity surveying.

    Progress Reporting:

    • Prepare regular reports on project costs, providing detailed breakdowns and explanations of variances.
    • Communicate effectively with project teams to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.

    Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with internal departments, external contractors, and vendors to gather necessary data for cost analysis.
    • Foster positive relationships with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project success.

    Qualifications/Experience:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

    Professional Certification:

    • Membership or certification with a recognized professional body such as the Nigeria Institution of Chartered Surveyors (NICS) or Charted Quantity Surveyor (CQSClass or equivalent) is highly desirable.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the maintenance, installation construction, and crude refining industry.
    • Proven experience in cost estimation, budget management, and contract administration.

    Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in using relevant quantity surveying software and tools.
    • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
    • Proven ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs using drawings, specifications, and BOMs.

    Communication Skills:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to present complex cost information in a clear and understandable manner.

    Analytical Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations.

    Team Player:

    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    Software Proficiency:

    • Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., COSTX, PlanSwift, Causeway).
