    Security and Conflict Analyst (Kaduna)

    Job Description

    • The Security and Conflict Analyst will provide expert technical assistance in analyzing complex security and conflict dynamics to inform program design and implementation.
    • The Analyst will be responsible for providing actionable analysis and recommendations to support evidence-based decision-making and ensure the safety and security of program staff, partners, and beneficiaries.

    Responsibilities
    Security and Conflict Analysis:

    • Conduct comprehensive security assessments to identify potential risks and threats to the project and provide recommendations for mitigation and risk management.
    • Analyze security incidents, including attacks, kidnappings, and protests, to identify trends, patterns, and potential hotspots.
    • Develop and maintain early warning systems to provide timely alerts on potential security risks, enabling informed decision-making.

    Support to Program Staff:

    • Provide technical guidance and capacity-building support to program staff on security protocols, security plans, and safety guidelines.
    • Offer advice on context-sensitive planning, decision-making, and situational awareness, anticipating potential risks and identifying responses.

    Community-based Monitoring:

    • Collaborate with Program Management to design and implement community-based monitoring systems, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis on conflict dynamics and peacebuilding efforts.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and communities to gather information and insights on conflict trends and peacebuilding initiatives.

    Research and Development:

    • Conduct research and analysis on conflict and peacebuilding trends, providing recommendations for program design and implementation.
    • Develop and maintain knowledge products, such as conflict assessments, peacebuilding maps, and early warning systems, to inform program decision-making.

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Design and implement monitoring and evaluation systems to track security incidents, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding activities.
    • Analyze data and provide insights on program effectiveness, identifying lessons learned and best practices for community-based peacebuilding.

    Requirements

    • Advanced degree in Conflict Studies, Security Studies, International Relations, or related field.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in security analysis, conflict resolution, or peacebuilding, preferably in Nigeria or a similar context, is required.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including program staff, partners, and beneficiaries.
    • Strong understanding of security protocols, risk management, and crisis response.
    • Fluent English is required, with strong written and spoken skills.
    • Working knowledge of local languages, such as Hausa, is desirable.
    • Ability to travel to program areas as needed.
    • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment, with strong time management and prioritization skills.
