    Security and Conflict Analyst (Yobe)

    Job Purpose

    • The Security and Conflict Analyst will provide expert technical assistance in analyzing complex security and conflict dynamics in Yobe State to inform program design and implementation. The Analyst will be responsible for providing actionable analysis and recommendations to support evidence-based decision-making, ensuring the safety and security of program staff, partners, and beneficiaries.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Security and Conflict Analysis in Yobe State:
      • Conduct comprehensive security assessments to identify potential risks and threats to the CCDRN Operation in Yobe State, providing recommendations for mitigation and risk management.
      • Analyze security incidents, including attacks, kidnappings, and protests, to identify trends, patterns, and potential hotspots in Yobe State.
      • Develop and maintain early warning systems to provide timely alerts on potential security risks in Yobe State, enabling informed decision-making.
    • Support to Program Staff in Yobe State:
      • Provide technical guidance and capacity-building support to program staff on security protocols, security plans, and safety guidelines in Yobe State.
      • Offer advice on context-sensitive planning, decision-making, and situational awareness in Yobe State, anticipating potential risks and identifying responses.
    • Community-based Monitoring in Yobe State:
      • Collaborate with Program Management to design and implement community-based monitoring systems in Yobe State, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis on conflict dynamics and peace building efforts.
      • Develop and maintain relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and communities in Yobe State to gather information and insights on conflict trends and peace building initiatives.
    • Research and Development on Conflict and Peace building in Yobe State:
      • Conduct research and analysis on conflict and peace building trends in Yobe State, providing recommendations for program design and implementation.
      • Develop and maintain knowledge products, such as conflict assessments, peace building maps, and early warning systems, to inform program decision-making in Yobe State.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation of CCDRN Operation in Yobe State:
      • Design and implement monitoring and evaluation systems to track security incidents, conflict resolution, and peace building activities in Yobe State.
      • Analyze data and provide insights on program effectiveness in Yobe State, identifying lessons learned and best practices for community-based peace building.

    Core Competencies

    • Advanced Degree in Conflict Studies, Security Studies, International Relations, or related field.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in security analysis, conflict resolution, or peace building, preferably in Nigeria or a similar context, is required.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including program staff, partners, and beneficiaries.
    • Strong understanding of security protocols, risk management, and crisis response.
    • Familiarity with the cultural and socio-political context of Yobe State.

    Language Skills:

    • Fluent English is required, with strong written and spoken skills.
    • Working knowledge of local languages, such as Hausa or Kanuri, is desirable.

    Special Requirements:

    • Ability to travel to program areas in Yobe State, as needed.
    • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment, with strong time management and prioritization skills.
