Role Overview

• We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Architect Engineer to join our founding team.
• We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Senior Architect Engineer.
• Ideally, we want someone with previous startup and enterprise who has experience in all phases of Enterprise Architecture in the Finance, Health, Manufacturing & Procurement Industries.
• Africa is the world's youngest continent and expanding the fastest. The number of young people working in Africa will rise to 375 million by 2030.
• The International Monetary Fund estimates that by 2035, there will be more young Africans joining the workforce each year than there are in the rest of the world put together due to population growth on the continent.
• The number of young individuals looking for work is much higher than the number of opportunities that are open to them. The skills of young people entering the workforce and the needs of companies are also out of sync.
• Many young people will have trouble finding employment to better their living conditions if nothing is done.
• We have spent the last six months investigating the finest methods for creating the talent workflow system that will assist in matching African talents with opportunities.
• Currently, at the stage of executing the prototype system, business processes while some aspect is live in production to start generating revenue and Marketing.
• We'll close the skills gap and provide African talent greater job chances.
• The founders are individuals with top academic background, professional experience in leading companies at leadership positions & strong technical background.
• The aim of the company is to become a “unicorn” (one-billion-dollar valuation) in the next 3-5 years as the product-market is considerably validated.
• The company’s values are centered on meritocracy, reason, entrepreneurship, and empathy.
• The individuals who will be hired at this position will be given a significant amount of equity given that the company is at execution stage.
• The person will be working fully remotely on a part-time basis while continuing their current job until we begin generating revenue and secure funding.
• We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Senior Architect Engineer. Ideally, this is a growing startup, there is no salary until we can start generating revenue and funding. Founder is open to team members having a main job until funding and revenue is secured.

Overview

• We're seeking a senior engineer with exceptional technical maturity and expertise to join our software engineering team and shape the future of our data and insight platform. You will be working with highly motivated and extremely talented engineers with quality, performance, and scale in mind at every step of the way.
• We believe strongly in team ownership of systems, which includes defining the vision of the services to prioritization of projects. You'll join one of our software engineering teams, working in a co-located and distributed remote/hybrid team practicing continuous delivery, two-week scrum cycles and collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and DevOps engineers.

Further Responsibilities

• Contribute to all aspects of the services and applications under the team’s ownership, which includes design, implementation, refactoring, automated testing, deployment, and uptime of the services.
• Help other team members grow as engineers through code review, pairing, and mentoring.
• Excellent communication skills, ensuring clear and concise articulation of status and technical topics during team meetings.
• Ability to work responsibly and independently hands-on as well as help guide a team through technical implementation and debugging.

• Advanced (C1 or C2) speaking and writing English. Able to have a real-time conversation.
• 15+ years of full-time hands-on Software Engineering experience.
• 5+ years of full-time hands-on JavaScript experience.
• 5+ years of full-time hands-on Node.js Backend API experience.
• 10+ years of full-time hands-on SQL experience.
• 5+ years of full-time hands-on NoSQL experience.
• 3+ years of full-time hands-on Typescript experience.
• 3+ years of full-time hands-on React.js experience.
• 3+ years of full-time hands-on Next.js experience.
• 5+ years of full-time hands-on AWS experience.
• 5+ years of full-time hands-on Azure experience.
• 5+ years of full-time hands-on Elasticsearch experience.
• 3+ years of full-time hands-on GraphQL experience.
• 3+ years of full-time hands-on PHP experience.
• Experience defining and implementing robust software architecture.
• Experience with AWS services: EC2, Lambda, SQS, SNS, RDS, etc.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing scalable and secure RESTful APIs using Express, NextJS, etc.
• Hands-on experience designing database schemas in both relational and non-relational environments.
• Excellent hands-on experience working across browsers, and breakpoints.
• Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience with networking concepts related to building web-based services and browser interactions, such as CORS.
• Excellent knowledge and experience with security concepts and implementations, including OWASP.
• Ability to understand customer context and broad product requirements, translating them into simple and elegant solutions.
