    Sous Chef

    Salary: N350,000 – N450,000

    We are looking to hire a highly qualified Sous Chef for our client, a fine dining restaurant in Victoria Island, Lagos.

    The Sous Chef is responsible for planning and managing food preparation in all kitchen stations.

    Responsibilities

    • Cook and prepare dishes
    • Direct food preparation processes
    • Assist the Chef De Cuisine to create menu items and meal designs
    • Ensure that all kitchen stations and equipment are clean, organized and sanitized
    • Assist the Chef De Cuisine in the administration and training of new kitchen staff
    • Supervise and motivate cooks of other levels (senior and line cooks)
    • Ensure health and safety of all kitchen stations
    • Ensure health and safety of food items
    • Ensure that standard food and hygiene practices are adhered to
    • Evaluate performance of all kitchen staff
    • Ensure food quality and standards are maintained for all dishes created
    • Give report directly to the Chef De Cuisine on all kitchen activities
    • Raise requisition for food inventory needs
    • Manage the kitchen inventory
    • Ensure that kitchen supplies are fresh and of high quality
    • Ensure proper food temperature when cooking or storage afterwards
    • Provide supportive leadership to kitchen staff throughout food service
    • Take charge of kitchen opening and closing
    • Resolve customer issues and concerns on a one-on-one basis
    • Perform any other task assigned.

    Skills & Requirements

    • B.Sc. in Hospitality management, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related field
    • Qualification from a Culinary school
    • At least 3 years’ work experience in a similar role
    • In-depth knowledge of food principles and best practices
    • Hands-on experience with planning menus and meal preparation
    • Knowledge of a wide range of recipes
    • Excellent budgetary and financial management skills
    • Experience in managing inventories and stocktaking
    • Knowledge on kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Good conflict management abilities
    • Great creative and innovative thinking skills
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Exceptional leadership and people skills
    • Effective staff coordination and delegation
    • Good problem-solving abilities
    • Passion for creating incredible food that delights and attracts customers
    • Ability to manage and coordinate a team in a fast-paced work environment
    • Must have a forward-thinking attitude
    • Must be detail oriented
    • Confident, assertive, and honest
    • Must always appear clean and tidy
    • Must be calm and organized
    • Must be professional in attitude and appearance
