    Technical Advisor – Peace Building & Conflict Transformation

    The Project

    Strengthening Capacities for Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution in North-Central Nigeria (PEACECORE)

    • The PEACECORE project, funded by BMZ, aims to strengthen conflict transformation conditions in Plateau State, Central Nigeria. The project addresses the escalation of conflicts and the resulting displacement and insecurity, which negatively impact agricultural and livestock farming and overall livelihoods. By promoting peaceful coexistence, inclusive peacebuilding, sustainable livelihoods, and food security, the project supports conflict transformation and prevention. The project is scheduled to run for 3 years (until 10/2026) and employs a participatory and inclusive approach.

    Responsibilities and Tasks

    Responsibilities

    The Technical Advisor is responsible for:

    • Implementing daily operational aspects related to the project
    • Processing technical aspects and further developing the area of responsibility according to specified quality standards
    • Maintaining effective communication and information flow between all involved institutions, counterparts, and GIZ
    • Ensuring smooth operation of the project office

    Tasks

    Coordination of Activities & Grants Management

    • Coordinate and assist in preparing and conducting project activities
    • Manage office and transport capacities
    • Estimate and coordinate project activity costs with the admin team
    • Assist with organizational issues
    • Regularly consult with the GIZ officer responsible for the contract and cooperation on all project activities
    • Identify needs of communities, government institutions, and NGOs
    • Participate in formulating project action plans and synchronize planning and budgeting systems with counterparts
    • Prepare, implement, and document training events, workshops, forums, team meetings, and other project activities

    Communication and Networking

    Develop and maintain contact with key stakeholders

    • Provide technical assistance to local and international experts
    • Ensure knowledge management by collecting, processing, and distributing relevant information
    • Monitor communication and interaction between government institutions, NGOs, and society

    Other Duties/Additional Tasks

    • Perform other duties and tasks as requested by management

    Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

    Qualifications:

    • University degree in political or social sciences with a focus on conflict transformation, peacebuilding, or political violence

    Professional Experience:

    • At least 3 years of professional experience in a comparable position

    Other Knowledge and Additional Competencies:

    • Proficiency in ITC technologies and computer applications (e.g., MS Office)
    • Strong managerial and organizational skills
    • Willingness to travel regularly (including abroad)
    • Excellent knowledge of English and basic understanding of Hausa; knowledge of Fulfulde is desirable
    • Willingness to upskill as required by tasks
    • Experience in logistics and event management is desirable
    • Understanding of German development policy goals, particularly Feminist Development Policy
    • Familiarity with contract and financing agreement administration is desirable
    • Strong understanding of the cultural aspects of Farmer/Herder conflict in Nigeria and West Africa
    • Excellent individual management skills, particularly in time management and workload management
    • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively in challenging settings
    • Understanding of agile working methods
