Thermal Insulation Technician at Boomplay

Job Duties

• Audit and identification of risk including mitigation related to refinery projects in particular and other projects generally.
• Undertake technical and feasibility studies and site investigations.
• Develop detailed designs.
• Assess the potential risks of specific projects, as well as undertake risk management in specialist roles.
• Manage, supervise and advise on mechanical engineering issues.
• Communicate and liaise effectively with colleagues and, subcontractors, contracting mechanical/civil engineers, consultants, co-workers and clients.
• Making sure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
• Managing projects using engineering principles and techniques
• Think both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems
• Accountable for verifying that the project construction activities and project engineering are in conformance to the project quality plan
• Manage change and ensure relevant parties are notified of changes in the project.
• Assist and undertake on-site inspections and surveys as required for the completion of projects, to the instructions of a more senior member of staff.
• To assist other members of the team by the execution of specific delegated tasks during times of absence.
• Making sure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
• Manage, supervise and advise on Mechanical engineering issues.
• Compile, check, undertake complex and repetitive calculations.
• Ensure that a project runs smoothly and that the project is completed on time and within budget.
• Correct any project deficiencies that affect production, quality and safety requirements before final evaluation and project reviews.
• Any other project related activity as assigned by the employer.

Required educational background / skills and knowledge:

• HND/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering with at least 4 years working experience
• Knowledge of applicable national and international codes and standards
• Knowledge of finite element analysis software
• Structured way of working, high self-motivation, team spirit and assertiveness
• Highly open minded, experienced in working in international teams
• Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering designs, installations, maintenance, and repairs
