    WATSAN Supervisor

    Job Description

    • Ensuring the day-to-day implementation and administration of assigned Watsan activities at project level, including but not limited to, water supply, excreta disposal, waste management, vector control, and dead bodies management.
    • Ensuring that the MSF procedures and protocols are followed by the Watsan teams to guarantee the operational quality of the project.
    • Ensuring the maintenance and repair of technical equipment in the project to guarantee an adequate running of Watsan activities.
    • Ensuring the distribution of the materials and tools used in water treatment, hygiene, and sanitation (e.g., physical organization and inventory of stocks, receiving and processing orders for water, sanitation and hygiene material, check that the amounts received are recorded, and check monthly consumptions, etc.).
    • Supporting the Watsan Manager in ensuring an appropriate emergency preparedness and response capacity (physical verification of stocks, contacts, transport means, staff training). Ensuring appropriate assistance to the project response team and if required, participating in emergency activities or exploratory visits.
    • Supporting the Watsan Manager in the team planning (e.g., staff rosters and admin, HR processes, etc.) and informing and involving the Watsan Manager in case of any major management or technical issue, and providing all required reporting
    • Planning and supervising the HR processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, tasks definition and internal and external communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required for the activity.
    • Participating in data collection and reporting as required.
    • Outline contingency plans in case of unexpected situations, such as encountering unexpected geological formations or emergencies during drilling operations.
    • Include provisions for post-construction monitoring of the boreholes, including periodic checks for water quality, yield, and functionality after installation.
    • Define clear guidelines for documentation and reporting requirements, including standardized templates for progress reports, completion reports, and water quality test results.
    • Incorporate clauses regarding payment schedules, dispute resolution mechanisms, and adherence to agreed timelines to ensure contractual clarity and compliance.
    • Consider including a section on community engagement strategies during drilling operations, fostering transparency, and addressing any concerns or queries from the local community.
    • Follow up water quality improvement system as recommeded by the WatSan Manager for the Expert House and project facilities.
    • Lead the in the vector controle activity especially the Indoor Insecticide Residual Spray (IRS) following the validate Standard Operating Proceedure (SoP) for IRS in MSF. To support in all other vector control like rodents, and snake repeleant as may be required by the project.
    • In collaboration with IPC focal person at project and facilitiy level, enforce and supervise ambulance cleaning after each referal maovment following MSF SoP.
    • In collaboration with Log focal person for Internal Request, initiate IR and followup already initated IR for Watsan activities.
    • In collaboration with IPC Manager, set up and manage the Hospital Waste Management system to include seggregation, transportation, treatment, and safe disposal.
    • Manage the WatSan follow up tools using date like Free Residual Chlorine (FRC), water meter readings for water csonusption follow up, and waste disposal date collected by the WatSan Agents at the facility level.
    • Follow up WatSan Agents and Technicains on routine maintenance of grey and black waste water system to include grease traps and soak away pits that was proposed for the washing, bathing, waste, and laundry areas.
    • In collaboration with the Construction Focal person, support all consturcution and maintenance related to WatSan infrastrucutre like latrine, soak away pits, septic tanks, infltration systems – grease traps, ETA,etc Infiltration trenchs as may be required.
    • Provide support for joints interdepartmental assessments that may be required during the period of engagment.
    • Provide weekly updates with follow up plans on WatSan activity at facility level.
    • Lead the handson maintnence of fulty water supply pipe lines, and sanitary facilities at facility level.
    • Work location migh be at facility level but might be required to provide onsite support to critical WatSan activity at Calabar.
    • This JD is not exustive of the task of this role, be rest assured that you can be assigned other WatSan related task as the project evolves.
