    Early Years Class Teacher

    Job Description

    • To enable young children to make good progress in their learning by building upon the skills they have; to assist all pupils to develop emotional security, self-belief and mature social skills, ensuring that all nursery school pupils attain to their potential through the effective delivery of a high-quality program of teaching and learning from early years to reception.

    Responsibilities

    • Developing and implementing lessons and work schemes, using the Early Years Foundation Stage as a framework.
    • Motivate and stimulate a child’s learning abilities, often encouraging learning through experience
    • Provide pastoral care and support to children within a secure learning environment
    • Teach an inspiring and appropriate Early Years Curriculum following the EYFS framework for England and Wales
    • Ensure children are settled in well when they first join the school/class
    • Have a clear understanding of the needs of pupils, including those with special educational needs; gifted and talented; EAL (English as an additional language); and/or disabilities; and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them all
    • Use teaching methods which capture pupils’ interest and maintain their engagement through:
    • Effective questioning that includes open and closed questions, together with the use of probing, supplementary questions
    • Clear instruction, effective modelling and accurate explanation
    • Listening carefully to pupils, analysing their responses and responding constructively in order to take their learning forward
    • Selecting and making good use of ICT and other learning resources which enable objectives to be met
    • Providing opportunities to develop pupils’ wider understanding by relating their learning to real life
    • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:20 am to 4:00 pm, with occasional Saturday work as required.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrate professionalism and cultural inclusivity.
    • Understand and adhere to school policies and guidelines.
    • Prioritise safeguarding of children.
    • Attend assemblies and actively assist in the supervision of pupils
    • Promote good attendance and monitor in accordance with the School’s attendance policy.
    • Be available for all parent-teacher conferences.
    • Attend all relevant meetings, including planning and training meetings.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Early Childhood related subject from a reputable institution or any related discipline with a Teaching certificate if educational background is not in the field of Education.
    • Profession certification in Education such as PGDE, CACHE, NVQ etc.
    • MSc or MBA or professional certificates in Education or any related discipline will be an added advantage. British curriculum teaching experience is a MUST.
    • Experience: Minimum 3 years relevant experience

    Primary School Teacher (Year 1 to 6)

    Job Purpose

    • Ensure primary school pupils reach their full potential through effective teaching and learning from Year 1 to Year 6.

    Overall Responsibilities and Functions

    • Teach according to the National Curriculum for England and Wales.
    • Set clear learning objectives, assess student progress, and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
    • Maintain discipline and create a positive learning environment.
    • Assess and record student progress, preparing them for national tests.
    • Support school policies and objectives, ensuring students’ safety and conflict resolution.
    • Attend parent-teacher conferences and meetings, participating in school events.
    • Uphold professional standards, engage in professional development, and contribute to school management.
    • Ensure health and safety measures are followed.

    Professional Responsibilities

    • Demonstrate professionalism and cultural inclusivity.
    • Understand and adhere to school policies and guidelines.
    • Prioritise safeguarding of children.

    Primary Teaching Assistant

    Overview of the Role

    • This description supplements the teaching assistant contract. Teaching is vital to school operations, responsible for students' education and safety. The teaching assistant is the essence of the work of the school. Each assistant is responsible for the education of the students in their class. In addition, it is the role of each assistant to be sure that all students are safe, secure and properly supervised at all times.

    Overall Responsibilities and Functions

    • Supporting children across the curriculum, often with a particular focus on maths, reading and writing
    • Giving extra help to children with special needs or those for whom English is not their first language
    • Helping to develop programmes of learning activities and adapting appropriate materials
    • Motivating and encouraging pupils
    • Assisting with marking and correcting work
    • Take account of students’ prior levels of attainment and use them to set targets for future improvements.
    • Maintain good discipline by adherence to the advice given to staff in the staff handbook and elsewhere.
    • Work with the Class teacher to monitor the class schedule
    • Assist teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment
    • Revise lesson material with students individually or in small groups
    • Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean
    • Oversee students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch and on field activities.
    • Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
    • Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of a teacher
    • Ensure health and safety measures are followed.
