    OHS&E/ Environment, Safety & Sustainability Manager

    Job Summary

    • The Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHS&E) Manager oversees Starsight’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Department.
    • S/he is responsible for the management, implementation, operation, monitoring and review of the HSE management system, with the goal of achieving work activities without incident, harm to personnel or damage to property or the environment.
    • S/he provides functional HSE support to all management, supervision and work personnel, and ensures that Starsight meets all legal expectations relating to Occupational Health and Safety.

    Responsibilities

    • Implement and monitor the HSE Management System, Plans and Safe Work Procedures.
    • Develop and execute health and safety plans in Starsight according to legal guidelines and ensure compliance.
    • Prepare and enforce polices to establish a culture of health and safety and maintain a safe workplace
    • Promote the HSE Management System by personal example and leadership.
    • Promote a strong awareness and personal responsibility for HSE with all management and supervisory personnel.
    • Review Company activities and ensure compliance with HSE Policies, HSE Plans and Procedures to assess risk and adherence to the law
    • Ensure that Contractor HSE activities comply with Company and Contractor HSE Policies and Plans, conform to the terms and conditions of the Contract and meet local statutory HSE regulations.
    • Ensure that all Hazards and Risks associated with Company and Contractor work activities have been identified, assessed and actions implemented to eliminate or reduce these to ALARP.
    • Review the daily, weekly and monthly HSE site reports and statistics.
    • Compile and publish HSE statistics and communicate to all management and personnel
    • Ensure that emergency preparedness and response plans are developed, documented, implemented and tested.
    • Ensure that effective medical, first aid, occupational health facilities, resources, equipment and consumables are provided and maintained at all offices and work sites.
    • Implement and execute HSE training plan for Company HSE and other personnel.
    • Lead risk assessments and studies and ensure results are addressed as work is executed.
    • Develop specific safety procedures with site team to address identified risks and challenges
    • Organise and facilitate training, drills and exercises for  HSE matters, emergency preparedness and response for both employees and contractors 
    • Ensure that Company HSE performance requirements are included in all contract documents.
    • Ensure that the Contractor activities comply with the Contractor HSE Plan and conform to the terms and conditions of the contract between Company and Contractor.
    • Follow up accident investigations to ensure close-out or recommendations to prevent recurrence and ensure communications of results across Company and Contractor workforces.
    • Promote HSE-related lessons learnt and the exchange of HSE information across Company and
    • Contractor workforces with the goal of achieving higher HSE awareness.
    • Prepare, convene and facilitate regular HSE Committee meetings.
    • Any other HSE related duties that may be required by Starsight Top Management.

    Requirements

    • Excellent spoken and written English. Highly effective written and oral skills.
    • Strong HSE commitment and willingness to be a proactive HSE role model and leader
    • Competent and experienced in developing, documenting and implementing comprehensive HSE Management Systems.
    • Competent and experienced in effective management of an HSE Team - office and site
    • Pragmatic approach to problem solving
    • Strong experience in working with third party contractors to create a successful HSE programme
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Nigerian Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Quality Assurance practices, processes and standards
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Health and Medical practices, processes and standards
    • Experienced facilitator of HAZOPS and HAZIDS
    • Experienced accident investigator and skilled in the use of Root Cause Analysis techniques e.g. TapRoot, Tripod Beta etc.
    • Relevant Degree, or Diploma in Safety Management, or NEBOSH Diploma
    • Lead Auditor of Safety Management Systems and Comprehensive knowledge of (OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001) Occupational Health and Safety Standard
    • Lead Auditor of Quality Management Systems Comprehensive knowledge of (ISO 9001: 2015)
    • Lead Auditor of Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Standard
    • Professional Membership of recognized National/International Safety Management Society

    Brand and Communications Manager

    Job Summary

    • The Brand and Communications Manager is a new role within the company and will be based at our main office in Lagos, Nigeria.
    • The successful candidate will work closely with our CMO/Group Marketing team to set up and develop the supporting marketing team in Nigeria and oversee the marketing initiatives for the Ghana branch.
    • As a creative Brand & Communications Manager, you will be responsible for combining your marketing and communications skills to execute and implement all marketing efforts to enhance the company’s brand image and drive new leads that support the greater business strategy.
    • You will play a key role in shaping the brand's identity by overseeing various marketing functions, including branding, events, email marketing, social media, online and offline promotions, and market research.
    • You will need to understand our target audience and develop marketing initiatives to position our brand according to those motivators.

    Responsibilities

    Principal responsibilities:

    • Work with the CMO to develop and implement the overall marketing strategy and plan for Nigeria & Ghana.
    • Set up and develop the supporting marketing team in Nigeria.
    • Manage internal teams and external suppliers such as graphic designers, and digital and PR agencies. 
    • Manage and control the annual marketing budget agreed by the board.
    • Develop and implement a social media plan that provides regular updates and grows the company’s audiences. 
    • Manage the content for company’s website so it is always up-to-date and       relevant.
    • Work closely with the CMO & PR agency to develop and implement the PR   strategy to successfully deliver key messages to the public.
    • Review and edit press releases, news stories and other marketing content. 
    • Work closely with the sales teams to understand the specific target markets and industries to identify customers' needs. 
    • Develop suitable marketing materials to support sales teams. 
    • Support and proactively plan relevant industry or company events.
    • Build brand awareness and increase brand value by ensuring a consistent brand voice and identity across all channels.
    • Prepare master presentations for the company that is on brand. 
    • Manage the design and production of marketing and promotional materials.
    • Brief in on-brand visuals and videos for social media, brochures, videos and   more.
    • Manage and build relationships with print contractors and other promotional vendors. 
    • Any other job duties associated with this role.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BA) in marketing, communications, public relations or related (essential).
    • Seven years plus experience in marketing as a brand, communications or marketing manager; experience within the renewable energy sector is advantageous. 
    • Meticulous attention to detail is required. 
    • Demonstrable experience in managing multiple marketing campaigns and     functions at once.
    • Strong understanding of the foundations of Marketing and what sells a brand.
    • Extremely tech-savvy and able to navigate multiple platforms with ease.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, HubSpot or other CRM software.
    • Good leadership and people management skills across different cultures. 
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Deadline-driven and determined.
    • Exceptionally organised with the ability to multitask.
    • Good time-management skills.
    • Creative thinker, proactive personality and problem-solver.
