    Gender and Inclusion Network Coordinator

    The purpose of this position is to facilitate and support the Gender & Inclusion Team, and Gender and Inclusion Group (GIG) Networks to enhance cross-organisational learnings, information sharing and capacity strengthening by:

    • Leveraging the technical expertise of the network to meet demand for temporary gender and inclusion technical support across the organisation
    • Communicating effectively within and about the network, its initiatives and results within Plan and with other external parties including partner organisations.
    • Enabling the effective use of online platforms for the purpose of learning, sharing, information and
    • membership management of the network
    • Supporting the Gender & Inclusion Team and Network and their activities through the provision of reports and information and ensuring projects and people are connected and working collaboratively.
    • Responsible for facilitating and administering Plan International’s GIG Network across Plan Internationals.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Network Coordination and Administration

    • Provide administrative/coordination support – including agenda development and co-facilitation – for regular joint online, offline and hybrid meetings of the Gender & Inclusion Hub, GIG Steering Committee, GIG Core Group, and other Gender & Inclusion/GIG workshops, events and meetings.
    • Build and grow the GIG network membership, mobilising technical specialists across all Plan International offices, and ensuring effective on- and off-boarding processes for network members.
    • Maintain a strong network, using online and offline tools, ensuring regular updates, and promoting learning and fostering sharing between network members.
    • Periodically identify the priority needs of network members, and work with other members of the Gender & Inclusion Hub to identify how these can be served. Help manage the supply and demand for temporary technical support or technical inquiries within the network.
    • Maintain membership lists for the GIG network governance groups (Steering Committee, Core Group and Wider Group), GIG sister networks and overviews of the network's representation or memberships in external networks, coalitions/initiatives
    • Maintain and update an overview and contact details of Plan International's Gender & Inclusion technical experts
    • Lead of the development and monitoring of the GIG network annual action plans and budgets
    • Maintain the Gender & Inclusion Network/Hub calendar and support the Gender & Inclusion Hub to facilitate Plan International’s coordinated representation/participation in internal and external networks, coalitions/initiatives through network members
    • Supporting the Gender & Inclusion Team and the GIG and their activities through the provision of reports and information and ensuring projects and people are connected and working collaboratively

    Internal Communications and Knowledge Management (KM) processes and platforms

    • Ensure that Gender and Inclusion intranet pages, libraries, repositories and calendar is user-friendly and maintained.
    • Manage internal communications on the Gender & Inclusion agenda, including the development and dissemination of newsletters, sharing relevant updates, key documents and opportunities with the network, and promoting the network’s initiatives and results
    • Support the Gender & Inclusion Hub and GIG network leadership with the production of communications, knowledge management and guidance related to the Gender & Inclusion Group in English, French and Spanish
    • Coordinate with Network Coordinators from other thematic areas to support a coherent approach across the networks

    Learning planning and resources

    • Work with G&I Hub staff to develop a learning, communications and engagement plan and lead the logistics required for the roll-out of the plan, maintaining a regular schedule of learning offers and formats (including, for example courses, webinars, newsletters etc.) for technical staff. Ensure regular monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the different learning resources.
    • Design and facilitate learning opportunities - including face-to-face, online and hybrid trainings and capacity strengthening initiatives using a variety of software, tools and (feminist) participatory methodologies
    • Develop multimedia tools (videos, podcasts, graphic visuals, presentations) for socialisation and uptake of Gender & Inclusion knowledge products, tools, training resources and other learning materials
    • Support the Gender & Inclusion Hub staff in analysing, assessing and collating insights and learning on Gender & Inclusion from internal and external sources, and help determine appropriate approaches and formats for sharing with technical audiences within Plan, as well as with external partners.

    Project management support

    • Provide administrative ad hoc support to members of the Gender & Inclusion Hub as needed
    • Provide administrative and quality oversight of external consultancies; manage relationships with vendors

    KEY RELATIONSHIPS

    • The Gender & Inclusion Network coordinator is a member of the Gender Transformative Policy and Practice Team (GTPP) will report directly to the Head of the Gender Equality and Inclusion in the Global Hub.
    • Key working relationships include with members of the Global Gender and Inclusion Team particularly the Gender Equality Specialist, Global Inclusion Specialist, Gender and Inclusion Programme Officer, Gender and Inclusion Group (GIG) Network, including the GIG Steering Committee, GIG Core Group, Regional Gender and Inclusion Specialist, and GIG sister networks, like the Disability and LGBTQI+ network members
    • Other key working relations include Network Coordinators of the other thematic areas, procurement and finance teams, and Knowledge Management Hub within the GTPP team.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • Education at degree level or equivalent vocational study in fields such as gender studies or social studies or other relevant courses.
    • Experience in managing technical networks and remote development support
    • Proven experience working on children’s rights and gender equality and inclusion within an NGO, UN agency, government department or other relevant institutions, preferable direct experiences from working in countries where Plan implements programs
    • Good understanding of rights-based development as well as gender equality and inclusion.
    • Affinity with inclusion, intersectionality, feminist theory and methodologies and gender norm change.
    • The following competencies are required for this position: result orientation, networking, learning ability, planning and organizing and communicating.
    • Knowledge and Experience in administering and working across remote networks and teams
    • Knowledge and experience using platforms for online collaboration such as MS Teams, Workplace, SharePoint, Zoom and Menti.

    Skills:

    • Excellent planning and administration skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong writing and editing skills, particularly for the web
    • Able to work in an international environment managing different time zones and in cross-cultural contexts
    • Able to network and build working relationships from afar
    • Able to consult, gather and integrate information and feedback into concise products, such as reports and communications material
    • Able to provide basic IT technical support in online spaces (e.g., MS Teams and Zoom)

    Deployable Communications Specialist

    The Deployable Communications Specialist is expected to work as an integral part of the country office. They are deployed to lead all communications for the response and support Plan International to communicate effectively with key stakeholders including the media, supporters and donors. The post holder will develop public messaging and create high-quality comms materials for use in Plan International’s global channels and across our network of National Organisations.

    DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE

    • This position may line manage in-country national communications specialists when on deployment.
    • No budget responsibility is required for this position.
    • Develops and maintains relationships with stakeholder groups both within Plan International and externally.
    • May deploy at short notice to a Country Office for up to 4 months.
    • The post is expected to be on deployment for up to 9 months per year.
    • Reports to the Country Office when on deployment with a technical line report to the GH Head of Global Media.
    • Regular interaction with GH media and digital teams and regional communications specialists, close collaboration with programme, Humanitarian, Advocacy and National Organisation communications colleagues.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Position Plan International as a key agency in the emergency response to help us raise funds.
    • Develop the crisis communications plan, including key comms messaging, and update regularly so our external communications are aligned with our programme response and reflect the evolving situation.
    • Advises County Management Team on comms and media approaches and opportunities.
    • Primary contact in-country for setting up and managing media interviews.
    • Develops and updates communications talking points.
    • Develops skills of key staff to be confident and able to participate in media interviews.
    • Develops strong content highlighting the impact of our programmatic response, and the humanitarian situation on the ground and reinforce. Plan International’s advocacy and policy messages
    • Produces a range of compelling human interest child-focused content such as case studies, eyewitness accounts, blogs, first-person accounts, images, audio, video
    • Ensure all content is available for everyone in the Plan International communications network to use by uploading all content in high resolution onto the global Media Bank or working closely with the GH Media Librarian to ensure that everything is available on the Media Bank
    • Uses social media to highlight the humanitarian situation while in country
    • Monitor the situation for challenges, risks, threats and opportunities related to the emergency context that may impact communications and public engagement approaches, messaging and operations
    • Ensure brand visibility of Plan International where appropriate and promote the local partners we work with.
    • Ensure that child protection guidelines for content are strictly adhered to including consent
    • Look for opportunities to use developments and the international news agenda to drive positive and consistent messaging about Plan International which represents the organisation effectively and raises its profile and reputation as a principled humanitarian agency.
    • Liaise with journalists/correspondents, manage media requests and provide spokespersons with briefing and talking points.

    Safeguarding

    • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

    KEY RELATIONSHIPS

    The post holder will need to be an excellent team worker who can operate in a large organisation and deliver results by collaboratively working with others as well as autonomously.

    Internal

    • Work closely with humanitarian, regional and country-based colleagues in the assigned regions; build relations and offer guidance, support and coaching as required.
    • Work collaboratively and supportively with other teams, National Organisations, Liaison Offices, partner organisations and external contacts.
    • Work positively with other Communication Department colleagues – including the video unit, multimedia archivist, digital and internal communications teams as well as with freelance photographers and filmmakers in creating effective press packages and content.

    External

    • Proactively develop and strengthen productive relationships with key global media contacts and outlets in assigned regions and specialist areas.
    • Managing and overseeing the work of freelancers, including photographers, videographers and comms consultants.

    TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    Essential

    • Able and willing to deploy at short notice to humanitarian crises.
    • Substantial experience working in journalism, media relations or PR at an international level.
    • Excellent verbal and writing skills in English with the ability to quickly translate complex information into strong messages and compelling content.
    • Track record of writing news articles, features, picture stories, op-eds and press releases and developing vlogs and visual content.
    • Multimedia skills, including photography and filming.
    • Proven success at pitching stories to the media and working with journalists.
    • Strong understanding of international humanitarian and development issues and rights-based work.
    • Practical experience working in complex emergency settings.
    • Practical experience with and ability to organise media visits, set up interviews and brief spokespeople.
    • Track record of handling complex, sensitive, and fast-moving situations and working in high-pressure environments with tight deadlines.
    • Good understanding of social media and digital channels.
    • Keeps up to date with key humanitarian and international development issues and trends and can spot new opportunities as they arise.
    • Strong organisational skills to deal with a complex work environment.
    • Work enthusiastically as part of a team and forms effective and constructive working relationships across the whole organisation and wider network within the sector.
    • Good understanding of humanitarian values, principles, the Humanitarian Charter and Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief.

    Deployable Cash & Voucher Assistance Specialist

    As a Deployable Cash & Vouchers Assistance (CVA) Specialist you will deploy to country offices 75% of the year to provide technical leadership at the Country Office level primarily on the CVA feasibility analysis, design and implementation of CVA initiatives, monitoring, capacity building, proposal development support as well as representing the organization at Cash Working Group and relevant clusters.     The Requirements

    • Demonstrable experience in design, implementation and evaluation of in-kind food through cash/voucher and market-based programming.
    • Demonstrable experience working in a broad range of humanitarian crises in several different contexts.
    • Knowledge of international humanitarian standards and codes of conduct.
    • Demonstrable understanding of Social Safety Nets, Livelihoods and associated methodologies.
    • Excellent proven cash programming experience covering a range of modalities and approaches.
    • Demonstrable representational and coordination skills.
    • Excellent project design, participatory monitoring and evaluation skills.
    • Good working knowledge of key humanitarian donors, for example, WFP, USAID, DFAT, GAC, FCDO, and DGECHO amongst others.
    • Knowledge of major humanitarian, recovery and development challenges and issues,
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Proven knowledge of targeting methods in Cash/voucher programmes
