    • Reuters, a global leader in trusted news and information, is launching the Reuters News Accelerator Program (RNAP), an intensive program designed to bring talented local journalists into our global newsroom and accelerate their careers with us.
    • RNAP is launching with a cohort in sub-Saharan Africa, and our aim is to have the program focus on a new region each year.

    What is RNAP?

    • RNAP offers a unique blend of coaching, learning, and hands-on experience, providing journalists with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in today's rapidly evolving news landscape. This program will equip you with:
      • Cutting-edge skills: Master the latest in multimedia storytelling, data journalism, and digital news production.
      • In-depth knowledge: Develop a deeper understanding of key global issues in politics, finance and business.
      • Expert mentorship: Receive personalized guidance from experienced Reuters journalists and industry leaders.
      • Global reach: Gain exposure to a global audience and connect with a diverse network of journalists.

    • The Photojournalist is a part of the Reuters News Accelerator Program.
    • Reuters Pictures is seeking a dynamic and talented Visual Journalist with experience in photojournalism and video skills (or a strong desire to learn), to be based in Lagos, Nigeria.

    About the Role
    As a Photojournalist, you will:

    • Cover news and sports events with a focus on producing in-depth human stories
    • Demonstrate a firm understanding of the country’s political landscape.
    • Participate in assignments with multimedia teams, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing assignments
    • Pitch and develop story ideas on a wide range of subjects.
    • Ensure safety protocols are followed and communicated effectively.
    • Comply with local laws and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.

    About You
    To be a Photojournalist at Reuters, you will likely have:

    • Minimum of five years of journalistic experience in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to travel to breaking news stories, often at short notice and to work in a high-pressure environment.
    • Proven storytelling skills, and a strong desire to work on long-term, in-depth stories.
    • Excellent news judgment and in-depth knowledge of the pictures business.
    • Understanding of the latest digital visual technologies for photographing, filming, editing, and transmitting.
    • Fluent English.

    • The Nigeria Chief Correspondent is a part of the Reuters News Accelerator Program.
    • Reuters is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Correspondent to lead our coverage of Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, largest economy, and top oil producer. Based in Lagos or Abuja, you will be responsible for producing a compelling multimedia file aimed at investors, professionals, and our worldwide media audience.

    About the Role
    As our Nigeria Chief Correspondent, you will:

    • Lead by example, consistently delivering exclusive news, compelling human-interest stories, and in-depth features.
    • Collaborate closely with colleagues across Africa and globally, ensuring groundbreaking and insightful coverage on diverse topics, including:
      • Nigeria’s economy, business and politics
      • The future of the oil sector
      • Foreign investment opportunities
      • Its thriving cultural scene including film and music
    • Assume managerial responsibilities within the bureau, including:

      • Deputising for the Bureau Chief when needed
      • Mentoring and training team members

    About You
    To be our Nigeria Chief Correspondent, you will likely have:

    • Minimum of eight years of journalistic experience in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proven ability to generate compelling ideas and write with authority across a broad range of topics.
    • Ability to deliver news swiftly, ensuring Reuters clients receive information first.
    • Proven track record of producing scoops and in-depth, revelatory features.
    • Strong collaboration skills, working with visuals colleagues and stringers to create original and engaging multimedia content.
    • Exceptional writing skills, producing clean, lively copy.
    • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively as part of a team.
    • Willingness to travel at short notice.

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    • Proven success in breaking news, writing under tight deadlines, and delivering insightful features on complex and challenging topics.
    • Excellent news judgment, with the ability to prioritize coverage and generate ideas that resonate with a diverse audience.
    • Deep understanding of current issues in Nigeria and the region, with experience working in hostile environments and/or emerging markets. Knowledge of energy markets is a plus.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Some experience managing a news team.
    • Solid understanding of multimedia news planning; experience with visuals is desirable.
    • Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.
    • Readiness to work nights and weekends when needed.
