    Specialist, Solutions Architecture (Fibre)

    The Opportunity

    IHS Towers is expanding our global footprint and we are seeking an individual to join our team as Specialist, Solutions Architecture(Fibre).The individual will provide guidance and architectural oversight during the detailed design, build test, and deployment phase with oversight in budgeting and reporting.

    Key Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Validate fibre optic network design, planning and engineering.
    • Support site survey activities and generate high- and low-level designs.
    • Analyse bills of quantity (BoQs) to be utilized in fibre optic network build.
    • Identify, evaluate and recommend changes to the current network in order to meet future network and technology requirements.
    • Ensure all implementation activities are performed according to quality specifications and requirements set by the company, customers and equipment manufacturers.
    • Perform quality assurance & in-process audits on the installation of supplied customer services in the OSP, including fibre installation; fibre splice, testing and termination; and acceptance test procedures.
    • Drive acceptance checklist to execute acceptance test procedures, thereby ensuring the installed fibre optic network conforms to customer requirements.
    • Ensure compliance of vendors with Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards. • Document the control process during the implementation phase.

    • Ensure that service providers meet all the technical specifications with respect to telecoms and civil works issues.
    • Develop framework for the run-rate based on vendor performance.

    Required Experience & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building/ Structural Technology, or any related discipline.
    • Advanced degree in any of the above Engineering fields and/ or relevant professional certifications, e.g. will be an added advantage.
    • 4-6 years’ relevant experience, including most recent 2-3 years in telecoms program/ project management

    Specialist, Network Operations (Fibre)

    The Opportunity

    IHS Towers is expanding our global footprint and we are seeking an individual to join our team as Specialist, Network Operations (Fibre). The individual will ensure that fibre links perform optimally and deliver to the required Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards.

    Key Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Perform fibre optic network design, planning and engineering.
    • Organize and ensure that scheduled preventive maintenance routines are conducted with a view to limit outage occurrences.
    • Understand planning and design of fibre networks with a view to resolving any fault in the fibre infrastructure by repair or replacement through new installation.
    • Understand low- and high-level designs of fibre optic network. Translate this understanding into actual implementation by ensuring diversions, repairs and replacement of fibre plants are carried out, thereby maintaining standards in all ramifications including but not limited to installation depth, splice losses, cable management, concrete mix ratio, etc.
    • Track all escalations and work progress to ensure timely resolutions according to SLA.
    • Review daily, weekly and monthly performance of the fibre network, and advise on breaches to SLAs and penalties accruable to vendors.
    • Ensure HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) compliance by the service providers/ vendors.
    • Initiate, own and drive any required change control process during the operations phase of the fibre optic lifecycle.
    • Obtain updates from vendors and maintain proper documentation on changes to the fibre optic network plant, including but not limited to new splice points introduced on the FOC route, associated OTDR traces, alternate paths introduced due to designed route, etc.
    • Deliver periodic reporting on all activities in line with client specifications and the company’s standards.
    • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Senior Specialist, Network Operations (Fibre)

    Required Experience & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building/ Structural Technology, or any related discipline.
    • Understanding of transmission networks (SDH/DWDM/OTN), IP/MPLS and other IP based network technologies and solutions will be an advantage.
    • 5-7 years’ work experience in fibre optic network design, implementation, operations & maintenance, overseeing build and operations of a fibre optic
