    Data Officer

    About the role

     

    Reaching the Last Mile (RLM) is a high profile, high value, multi-partner programme, which will make a significant contribution to the control and elimination of the Oncho LF PC NTDs across 13 countries, and Sightsavers is responsible for overall delivery in line with contractual agreements within the consortium structure.

     

    The primary purpose for the Data Officer is to support the Programme and Technical  Manager and Nigeria office downstream partners in the strengthening the PCT NTD and MMDP data base, including electronic data entry (DHIS), its management, and tracking  the road map of the top five PCT Neglected Tropical Diseases and MMDP implementation. This is to support and fast track Initiatives for their  elimination  through collaboration with partners as well as support other data quality initiatives within the country office. The purpose of the post is to work with the Programme teams on quality data management and analysis for the various interventions.


    Responsibilities
     

    The Data Officer will provide support to the NTD Manager and Programme Officers in data management for five Preventive Chemotherapy (PCT) NTDs (Trachoma, Onchocerciasis, Lymphatic Filariasis, Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) and Schistosomiasis). Assist in analysing programme data (Output Statistics), providing relevant and good quality data needed for programme design, planning, communication, fundraising and advocacy.

     

    Further duties and responsibilities include:

     

    • Lead in NCO RLM related NTDs data management and analysis.
    • To work with partners in data entry and management for PCT NTDs and MMDP.
    • Collaboration with partners and programme  teams in the effective and quality data entry for Oncho LF NTDs:
    • To support programme officers and partners to ensure all projects are appropriately documented and to ensure high quality and timely reporting.
    • Provide regular and timely data for reporting in the programme portal.
    • Track programme performance against set treatment and HRD targets.
    • Support each partner in quality data entry and management for NTDs.
    • Provide support in the scaling up DH.
    • Work with NTD manager, Programme officers and partners to ensure the standard reporting tools are used for data collection.
    • Provide support to Programme Officers in training and retraining of health workers, teachers, and CDDs in data management.
    • Identify low coverage area from available data set for mop-up for five NTDs to ensure NTDs target delivery. 


    Skills and Experience
     

    As the successful candidate you will have working experience, or BSc, or Higher National Diploma in Statistics or related disciplines. You will hold knowledge and experience in data entry, management and analysis of large volume of community data, including electronic data collection (DHIS), and possess extensive experience in data management.

     

    Further requirements include:

    • Knowledge and experience in research and mapping (GIS).
    • Relevant experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
    • Relevant experience in monitoring and supervision for NTDs.
    • Knowledge in Data Quality Assessment.
    • Experience in working in an NGO environment.
    • Ability to travel frequently within and outside the country.
    • An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for disabled people.

    Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

    About the role

    Sightsavers has an opportunity for an experienced Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to join our Kogi state and NTDs Programme Management team, where they will be responsible for all programme implementation and monitoring and evaluation, according to a detailed plan guided by standard protocols for NTDs. The post holder will ensure that information from monitoring, evaluation and other assessments are actively used to inform and adjust project implementation.

    Responsibilities

    As the M&E Officer you will be responsible for actively sharing and using information emerging from evaluation/review, adjustment of interventions and implementation of recommendations. They will also be responsible for actively seeking and providing feedback on NTDs control and submission of all required NTD control deliverables. 

    Further duties and responsibilities include:

    • Support the NTD programme team to develop a detailed programme monitoring plan and jointly use it to guide programme management. 
    • Support the NTDs programme team to monitor and implement appropriate actions to improve efficiency and quality of project implementation. 
    • Work with the programme team and other collaborating agencies to ensure that lessons of sound practice are documented and disseminated. 
    • Facilitate and participate in regular monitoring of on-going programme activities in close coordination with the Programme Officer. 
    • Work with key stakeholders and undertake regular visits to LGAs and communities to oversee and ensure quality and efficiency of monitoring activities. 
    • Assist the NTD managers, technical managers and Kogi State Ministry of Health in disseminating information on NTD activities, studies, research and lessons learned at National and State level. 
    • Represent the programme office on monitoring and evaluation issues at relevant state ministries and other agencies. 

    Skills and Experience

    As the ideal candidate you will possess a background in managing an integrated NTDs programme in Nigeria, have experience of developing and managing public health programmes, and hold technical knowledge of one or more of the five leading NTDs. 

    Further requirements include:

    • Experience in monitoring and evaluation. 
    • Extensive working experience in a similar role, ideally in an INGO setting. 
    • Working experience or a first degree in a relevant field 
    • Experience in database management systems for an integrated programme. 
    • Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation of light to moderately complex projects. 
    • Ability to understand and work with project budgets, forecasts and reports.   
    • Programme management skills. 
    • An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for disabled people.
