    Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (Kogi)

    Job Summary

    • The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer reports to the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager and is responsible for coordinating monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities at the site level.
    • The M&E will be responsible for the implementation of the function of Monitoring and Evaluation systems.
    • He/she will track the program inputs, activities, processes, outcomes and impact measures of the project at the site level.
    • He/she provides support and strategic management of HIV/AIDS response data for the sites program and reports to the country office.
    • He/she will also support the M&E manager in program design and assist in managing program assessments and evaluations to promote a culture of evidence-based decision making.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the development and implementation of a qualitative and quantitative M&E system and monitors program activities.
    • Coordinate and support the preparation, collation, Analysis and dissemination of major HIV/AIDS reports generated within the state program.
    • Ensure the quality and relevance of the Programs monitoring and evaluation design.
    • Document results of the M&E system and produce periodic reports required and send to the country office.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or Medical Demographics. Master’s degree or an advanced certificate in M&E is a plus.
    • Minimum of 4 years professional experience in an M&E position responsible for implementing M&E activities of international development projects, preferably with a focus on HIV or public health programs.
    • Proven success in designing, implementing, and operating project M&E systems from project initiation to closeout stages.
    • Experience designing and managing database systems.
    • Experience in strategic planning and performance measurement, including indicator selection, target setting, reporting, database management, and developing M&E and performance monitoring plans.
    • Knowledge of the major evaluation methodologies (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed method, and impact) and data collection and analysis methodologies.
    • Experience in planning, managing surveys and refining data collection tools

    Nurse (Abuja)

    Job Summary

    • The ART nurse assists the clinician in ensuring smooth implementation of the ART service delivery within the facility.
    • He /She will directly support the health facility and community HIV prevention programs, strengthen referral and linkage services.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • In close collaboration with the facility medical officer, ensure the provision of quality, evidence-based ART, PMTCT, prevention and TB services.
    • Initiate and expand PITC in the supported health facilities.
    • Provides skilled nursing procedures (i.e. dressing changes, etc.).
    • Administers medication as ordered within the scope of practice of the licensee.

    Physician / Medical Officer (FCT Abuja and Benue)

    Job Summary

    Linkage Assistant (Benue)

    Job Summary

    • The position of Linkage Assistant is an important service based in the clinic setting and will working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure routine linkage and retention operations or activities are implemented as per the standard operating documents/guidelines.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work closely with the HIV care/treatment and HIV testing teams to reach out to HIV positive clients encourage them to come into care and monitor their linkage and engagement in medical care.
    • He/ She will make phone calls, arrange home visits and work with community structures to reach newly diagnosed HIV positive clients that haven’t been linked to care and treatment.
    • He/ she will make notes and regularly update the appropriate linkage and retention tools when they contact the client.
    • Work with the clinic team to identify, follow-up and support clients that miss clinic appointments and those that disengage from care.
    • In conjunction with Community Tracers, conduct community follow up of clients that cannot be reached on phone.
    • Support the clinic team to trace, contact and bring to care those clients that are urgently required to return to the clinic e.g., those with unsuppressed viral load, positive TB test etc.
    • Monitor the clinic phone line for calls that come in during non-operation and operation hours and effectively respond.
    • Identify and document barriers clients experience in accessing HIV Care and other services and work with the client using a strength-based approach to identify solutions and overcome the barriers.
    • Reach out to partners of clients that recently tested HIV positive and invite them to the clinic for HIV counseling and testing services.
    • Arrange appointments with other peer clients, counselors and other staff, CBO with the client when necessary.
    • Reinforce treatment goals that clients develop with medical care providers during one-on-one or group counseling sessions.
    • Document linkage and navigation data from client encounters.
    • Assist with liaising clients and community-based case management providers once they are successfully re-engaged in medical care.
    • Assist with reporting requirements including documenting data for reports, preparing reports and submitting data to line managers.
    • Assist with program wide activities including attending meetings.
    • Assist with other AHF activities as requested and to perform other duties as may be assigned.
    • Ensure that >90% of newly tested positives are linked to care while >90% of all clients both new and old are retained into care.

    Education and Experience

    • Must possess a Diploma or its equivalent in either of the following disciplines Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, Social Works, Administration, Social Sciences and Nursing.
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with clients in public health institutions, community services or medical settings.
    • Must have experience working with people living with HIV, and /or other chronic illness, substance users, and persons with mental diagnoses.
    • Should have strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
    • Ability to function under dynamic circumstances and proficiency in computer skills.

    Laboratory Technician (Abuja)

    Job Summary

    • Provide laboratory support to AHF supported sites and adhere to standard laboratory protocols and guidelines in the country program. Participate in training and supportive visit and team building exercises for laboratory staff.
    • Directly supports HIV Medics running laboratory investigations which includes handling the Partec CD4+ counter, PIMA POC CD4 counter, fully or semi-automated Chemistry and Haematology analyzers, viral load sample management and ensuring the quality of routine lab assays and general laboratory services is maintained at all times.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provides basic laboratory services for CD4 tests and other tests as required.
    • Participates in planning and supporting supervision activities for the laboratory function for all sites under his/her purview.
    • Supports laboratory services provision and ensures standard, and current practices are in place for maintaining high quality laboratory services and maximizing the use of all resources.
    • Ensures compliance and implementation of laboratory protocols for all HIV Medics involved with the medical laboratory function.
    • Coordinates with all laboratory vendors (outside contractors), and the sites to ensure that the process of handling patient samples and delivery of results is efficient and effective.
    • Conducts quality control checks and maintenance for the Partec CD4 machine in all labs and other laboratory tests performed within the laboratories.
    • Participates in the development and replication of the AHF Nigeria laboratory protocols and practices at all affiliated healthcare centers.

    • He/ She will make phone calls, arrange home visits and work with community structures to reach newly diagnosed HIV positive clients that haven’t been linked to care and treatment.
    • He/ she will make notes and regularly update the appropriate linkage and retention tools when they contact the client.
    • Work with the clinic team to identify, follow-up and support clients that miss clinic appointments and those that disengage from care.
    • In conjunction with Community Tracers, conduct community follow up of clients that cannot be reached on phone.
    • Support the clinic team to trace, contact and bring to care those clients that are urgently required to return to the clinic e.g., those with unsuppressed viral load, positive TB test etc.
    • Monitor the clinic phone line for calls that come in during non-operation and operation hours and effectively respond.
    • Identify and document barriers clients experience in accessing HIV Care and other services and work with the client using a strength-based approach to identify solutions and overcome the barriers.
    • Reach out to partners of clients that recently tested HIV positive and invite them to the clinic for HIV counseling and testing services.
    • Arrange appointments with other peer clients, counselors and other staff, CBO with the client when necessary.
    • Reinforce treatment goals that clients develop with medical care providers during one-on-one or group counseling sessions.
    • Document linkage and navigation data from client encounters.
    • Assist with liaising clients and community-based case management providers once they are successfully re-engaged in medical care.
    • Assist with reporting requirements including documenting data for reports, preparing reports and submitting data to line managers.
    • Assist with program wide activities including attending meetings.
    • Assist with other AHF activities as requested and to perform other duties as may be assigned.
    • Ensure that >90% of newly tested positives are linked to care while >90% of all clients both new and old are retained into care.

    Education and Experience

    • Must possess a Diploma or its equivalent in either of the following disciplines psychology, counseling and guidance, social works, administration, social sciences and nursing.
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with clients in public health institutions, community services or medical settings.
    • Must have experience working with people living with HIV, and /or other chronic illness, substance users, and persons with mental diagnoses.
    • Should have strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
    • Ability to function under dynamic circumstances and proficiency in computer skills.
    • Have undergone at least a short course training in HIV Care and management
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

    Laboratory Technician (Benue)

    Job Summary

    • Provide laboratory support to AHF supported sites and adhere to standard laboratory protocols and guidelines in the country program. Participate in training and supportive visit and team building exercises for laboratory staff.
    • Directly supports HIV Medics running laboratory investigations which includes handling the Partec CD4+ counter, PIMA POC CD4 counter, fully or semi-automated Chemistry and Haematology analyzers, viral load sample management and ensuring the quality of routine lab assays and general laboratory services is maintained at all times.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provides basic laboratory services for CD4 tests and other tests as required.
    • Participates in planning and supporting supervision activities for the laboratory function for all sites under his/her purview.
    • Supports laboratory services provision and ensures standard, and current practices are in place for maintaining high quality laboratory services and maximizing the use of all resources.
    • Ensures compliance and implementation of laboratory protocols for all HIV Medics involved with the medical laboratory function.
    • Coordinates with all laboratory vendors (outside contractors), and the sites to ensure that the process of handling patient samples and delivery of results is efficient and effective.
    • Conducts quality control checks and maintenance for the Partec CD4 machine in all labs and other laboratory tests performed within the laboratories.
    • Participates in the development and replication of the AHF Nigeria laboratory protocols and practices at all affiliated healthcare centers.
    • Participates in inventory control management for laboratory supplies and reagents under his/her sites.
    • Ensures the compilation of monthly laboratory inventory at the Healthcare Centers.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience

    • BMLS, AMLSCN
    • Experience with handling fully or semi-automated machines a must.
    • A minimum of three years of experience in a similar position.
    • Must poses a valid license to practice as a medical laboratory scientist.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Possess current knowledge of best practices in HIV/AIDS laboratory management.
    • Proficiency in computer operations.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    • Duly registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria and hold a current annual practicing license.
