    Communications Associate

    Job Description

    • We are recruiting a Communications Associate to lead FHSA’s communication initiatives. This role will involve leading our knowledge and communication efforts with various target audiences, managing social media platforms, liaising with print, electronic, and online media, and serving as the primary public relations contact for the organization.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create, curate, and manage high-quality content for clients and external channels, translating complex consulting outcomes into engaging communication assets. 
    • Develop and implement an effective knowledge and communications strategy tailored to different target audiences. 
    • Oversee the FHSA’s digital presence, including social media management, website updates, and content optimization for SEO. Analyze and report on digital campaign effectiveness to refine strategies.
    • Collaborate with the program team to write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, reports, briefs, blogs, press releases, website content, speeches, and other resources that communicate the organization’s activities, products and services. 
    • Ensure all external communication from the firm is copyedited to meet editorial standards before publishing and maintain consistency in branding and messaging across all communication materials in collaboration with the program team.
    • Manage relationships with media outlets, draft press releases, and pitch stories, respond to inquiries, and organize public events, webinars, documentaries, and presentations to enhance visibility and thought leadership. Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and maintain a media database.
    • Work with relevant teams to identify and highlight donor program success stories, lessons learned, and best practices. 
    • Collaborate with the Access to Market lead on behaviour change communication program activities. 

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Information Management, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences, or related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
    • 2-5 years as a communications and media manager with obvious success in strategic communications and knowledge management.
    • Experience in utilising and optimizing communication across diverse media, including digital platforms, social media, radio, newspapers, and other traditional channels
    • Proficiency in writing, editing, and content creation, with strong storytelling abilities to translate complex program information into compelling narratives.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in digital and social media management, including the use of content management, media analytics, and design tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Canva, Photoshop).
    • Tech-savvy with a keen eye for detail.
    • Have existing relationships with journalists, media houses, and traditional media outlets.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.

    Gender and Community Building Lead

    Job Description

    • We are seeking an experienced Program Lead (Gender and Community Building) to join the team .This role is pivotal in ensuring that gender mainstreaming and community engagement efforts are effectively integrated into project activities to achieve desired outcomes.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Lead the integration of gender-sensitive approaches into all project activities, ensuring that they effectively address gender disparities and promote women’s empowerment.
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance on gender-related issues to project staff and partners, including conducting gender analyses and designing gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
    • Monitor and evaluate the gender-related outcomes of project activities, collecting data to measure progress towards project goals and objectives. 
    • Serve as the intervention lead for the Mentoring and Community Building project intervention to address the societal barrier that female employers and employees face. 
    • Facilitate dialogue and collaboration with community stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and community leaders, to foster an enabling environment for women’s economic empowerment.
    • Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and community meetings to build the capacity of community members, especially women, on topics related to gender equality, nutrition, and food security.
    • Identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership with other organizations working on gender equality and women’s empowerment initiatives in Nigeria.
    • Represent FHSA at relevant forums, conferences, and events to promote the organization’s gender-focused work and contribute to knowledge-sharing and advocacy efforts.

    REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in gender studies, international development, sociology, or related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in gender mainstreaming, women’s empowerment, and community development, preferably within the agriculture or nutrition sector in Nigeria.
    • Strong knowledge of monitoring and evaluation and applying gender impact metrics.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with project beneficiaries and partners.
    • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, and social inclusion.
