    2. Job description
    A. General purpose of the position, responsibilities and tasks

    General purpose of the position

    • INTERSOS is looking for a Medical Doctor that will provide professional technical advice input in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical
    • care for patients and their communities as well as to improve the health condition of the target population
    • Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, existing and
    • validated protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions.

    Main responsibilities and tasks

    Clinic

    • Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention.
    • Carry out outpatient and/or inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting protocols in targeted HF and in mobile clinic activities.
    • Knows and ensures all medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected
    • To assess and make the necessary arrangements for patients who need advanced care that is not available at INTERSOS health facility and have to be referred.

    Management

    • Assist in response and management of any health and nutrition emergency and participate in the development of disaster preparedness systems.
    • Promote mother infant and young child feeding best practices in various health facilities.
    • Participate actively in planned program Rapid Health and Nutrition assessment/surveys.
    • Review personnel issues and concerns of health and nutrition staff and assist with determining and implementing solutions.
    • Participate in recruitment of health and nutrition program staff as appropriate.
    • Supervise the use of materials, equipment and supplies for the intervention.
    • Identify opportunities for program development

    3. Position requirements
    Education Bachelor’s university degree in medicine and surgery from an accredited university.

    Professional

    • experience Five years of relevant professional work experience in a developing country, in public health and nutrition.
    • Minimum of Two (2)years experience working in an NGO
    • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, power point presentation etc.)
    • Strong sense of responsibility, methodical and accurate with high organizational skills
    • Manages effectively his own time as well as flexible and available to work over time when needed
    • Willing to be deployed to the newly liberated local government areas.

    Languages
    Fluency in English, Kanuri and Hausa;
    Personal requirements

    • Strong interpersonal and team building skills and excellence as a team player.
    • Must possess the ability to learn with speed and ease.

    Operational requirement of commodity tracking in close collaboration with the field officer

    Main
    responsibilities and tasks

    • Ensure physical confirmation of the quality and quantity of commodity at point of reception
    • Ensure all dispatch and receipts documents are completed and archived in compliance with INTERSOS standards.
    • Supervise and monitor loading and offloading of commodities and casual labourers as required at all times
    • Ensure daily, weekly, monthly reporting of stock movement, stock balance, Stock receipt, Waybill summary
    • Ensure safe keeping of all stock transactions

    General purpose of the position
    Mainstreaming of protection in food security activities

    Main responsibilities and tasks

    • Lead the collection of information/data about vulnerability, protection needs and concerns of the targeted population.
    • Manage individual protection cases, including maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent.
    • Update case files on individual developments, following international SOPs and ensuring beneficiaries’ data are protected.
    • Support the focal point for the identification and referral of Extremely Vulnerable Individuals and People with Specific Protection Needs for adequate assistance according to INTERSOS pre-defined criteria.
    • Conduct follow-up monitoring visits to ensure that needs have been met in an appropriate manner and beneficiary have the opportunity to provide
    • feedback on the assistance received.
    • Contribute to the establishment/maintenance of a referral pathway, respectful of the confidentiality principle and international SOPs.
    • Prepare and timely submit timely reports to hierarchy.
    • Provide constant feedback to supervisor on progress, lesson learnt, achievements and gaps, issues and problems.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Project Manager;
    • Conduct duties in accordance with INTERSOS Nigeria programme and protection Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
    • Conduct duties in strict accordance with INTERSOS Code of Conduct and the principle of confidentiality.
