    Nutrition Specialist

    Role Purpose

    • Support the implementation of high quality nutrition project in the State, ensuring national protocols and agreed strategies are followed.

    Scope of Role

    • Reports to: Project Director (Matrix to Senior Nutrition Advisor)
    • Staff directly reporting to this post: TBC

    Key Areas of Accountability:

    • Supported by the CO Nutrition team, provide technical guidance for the implementation of nutrition interventions on the project, ensuring interventions meet internationally recognised and Save the Children’s quality standards as well as National guidelines and protocols.
    • Lead on the training of project and government staff on nutrition or other related topics.
    • Work closely with LGA and State Government to efficiently meet deliverables.
    • Support the PD to ensure the project meets or exceeds agreed targets by working with the MEAL team and PD to analyse project data and ensure its use for decision making.
    • Effectively manage all key risks related to the programme especially in relations to the performance pay clause.
    • Support the production of timely high quality reports and documentation both to meet donor and internal demands.
    • Create and maintain good relationship with key players in the nutrition sector, State and LGA levels (Government, development agencies, other organizations and research institutes) and represent Save the Children’s nutrition work as necessary.
    • Support recruitment of technical staff, as necessary.
    • Participate in National and State level technical meetings related to nutrition programmes, as necessary.
    • Contribute to the development and review of nutrition related documents at both state and national levels (guidelines, policies, etc.) providing technical inputs in line with Save the Children position paper, policies and evidence based programme expertise.
    • Collaborate with the CO technical team to ensure cross learning among projects.
    • Monitor that accountability mechanisms for adults and children are planned for and correctly implemented.
    • Observe principles of child rights programming inform in all activities related to nutrition programming including design, analysis, implementation and M& E with a particular focus on gender and diversity, children’s participation.
    • Ensure programme implementation demonstrates high levels of commitment to Save the Children and our vision, mission and values in order to ensure the objectives of your role and the country programme are met.
    • Ensure the effective and efficient use of all Save the Children resources and ensure safety in the workplace.
    • Comply with the requirements of Save the Children’s Policies (including Chid Safeguarding and Fraud) to ensure maximum protection for children.
    • Provide information and other communication materials for effective support of other departments by meeting service requirements.

    Education and Experience/Qualifications
    Essential:

    • Master's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nutrition, Medicine, Sociology, MBA).
    • Demonstrated working experience in development projects.
    • At least 5 years experience on Nutrition programming.
    • Familiarity with analytical tools and ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical approaches for operational work.
    • Strong communication skills (oral and written) in English. Knowledge of other Nigerian languages will be an asset. 
    • Demonstrated experience of working with national and/or State level government structures to strengthen the capacities.
    • Self-motivated and results orientated.
    • Highly numerically articulate with a track record of data manipulation and use of spreadsheets and reporting systems.

    Job Description

    • Child Safeguarding Level 3 - the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.

    Role Purpose

    • The Sourcing Officer in Save the Children International will be accountable for the procurement and delivery of local and international orders requested by the Programme teams
    • Specifically, the Sourcing Officer will be responsible for ensuring timely, cost effective procurement and delivery of goods and services, which are compliant with Save the Children International Country Manual and donor procurement policies and guidelines.

    Scope of Role:

    • Staff directly reporting to this post: One - Intern

    Key Areas of Accountability
    Contribute as a Member of the SCI Team:

    • Support the delivery of international programming in line with Save the Children mandate, strategy and theory of change.
    • Meeting the servicing requirements of Save the Children members and their donors through first class customer service and collaborative working approach.
    • Improving outcomes for children through delivery of Save the Children global programme strategy and global initiatives and growth targets.
    • Ensure a robust procurement system – fit for the future and harnessing the extraordinary engagement, diversity, talent and commitment of our people.
    • Supporting a team environment of continuous learning, growth and development and be held accountable for their commitments.
    • Ensuring that the focus of the organisation remains on the rights and needs of children through a time of internal transition and focus.
    • Supervise the interns and manage their growth and development

    Realise world-class standard global supply chain services through:

    • Management of all procurement in line with programme requirements, SCI procurement polices processes and quality standards.
    • Ensure that programmes are kept up to date of order status, and that goods are of the right specifications and lead times are met.
    • Ensure all orders are processed in timely manner, tracked on overviews and that all relevant documentation is filed appropriately and databases are up to date.
    • Source new products when requested by programmes and work with Save the Children members, Regional and Country Offices, programmes and Technical Advisors through the procurement manager to identify quality standards as required.
    • Support periodic reviews of Save the Children Standard Products Catalogue in collaboration with relevant parties within SCI and Save the Children members, regions and countries.
    • Support the SCI supply chain Unit in the development of contracts for supplies of goods and services.
    • Support in supplier management and trainings to meet SCI and Donor contracting policies.

    Ensure significant cost savings for the organisation, donors and beneficiaries through:

    • Ensuring “overall best value for money” is achieved through a competitive and transparent procurement process considering quality, availability, time frame, transport and storage costs.
    • Advise on best sources of supply and freighting options.
    • Ensure compliance with SCI policies and donor rules and guidelines.
    • Ensure all appropriate due diligence checks and risk assessments are carried out in line with organisational policies.
    • Produce management information (Tracker) reports on a monthly and quarterly basis, including data analysis and recommendations on improving the efficiency of procurement services.
    • Support initiatives to improve procurement within save the Children, including around emergency preparedness, medical supply and process reviews.
    • Ensure professional management of all suppliers including maintaining good supplier relations and supplier performance review against key performance indicators and framework agreements, regularly updating this information into national supplier database.
    • Make suppliers aware of Save the Children values and their need to comply as part of agreements.
    • Capacity building of intern and field staff on procurement management.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • A minimum of four years of post-NYSC relevant experience, at the national level, in supply, procurement, contracting, and/or other directly related technical fields is required.
    • A first level university degree (Bachelor's) in a relevant technical field (as identified above).
    • Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Qualification will be an added advantage.
    • Proven and significant experience in international procurement and contract management, including an ability to review procurement demands and trends, and to develop strategies to fill identified gaps.
    • Field level experience in logistics for INGOs in international development and emergency programmes
    • Knowledge of  key institutional donors and their compliance requirements in respect of logistics and procurement
    • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
    • Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in.
    • Commitment to Save the Children values.
    • Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods of time
    • Highly organised with good administration skills for order and information management, able to develop filing systems and databases to ensure an auditable trail.
