    Legal Associate

    Role Overview

    The Legal Officer shall support the effective management of all legal matters as they relate to all facets of the legal function – Litigation, Corporate Commercial transactions, Contracts review, Data Privacy, Ethical Business Program, Intellectual Property, Owned & Leased Property, Legal Advisory, and any other functional projects or assignments.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with external counsels to manage litigation and its attendant administrative processes
    • Hold responsibility for monthly legal reporting.
    • Contracts Management
    • Hold responsibility for Legal Applications update and management – Bright Flag & Dilitrust
    • Retrieve information on all legal issues, files and build into the existing legal function structure
    • Provide administrative and legal support for internal investigations
    • Ensure the development of service level agreements for service support and delivery.
    • Manage legal invoicing and track payments ensuring accuracy and promptness of payment.
    • Support regulatory issues management
    • Manage Property due diligence process
    • Legal correspondence drafting
    • Data Privacy Compliance Management
    • All such other duties as directed by the Legal Manager

    Qualifications

    • A graduate degree in law (minimum of second class lower).
    • 3-5 years experience
    • Member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
    • Excellent written &verbal communication skills.
    • Strong knowledge of corporate commercial practice
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
    • Highly analytical with a strong attention to detail.
    • Great team player to support cohesive operations in the Legal Unit of the group.
    • Sound knowledge of Microsoft office applications especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

    Treasury Trade Structure Finance

    Responsibilities

    • Preparation of Treasury TSF Documents
    • Follow up with Banks for execution of Transactions
    • Perform responsible and coordinate with Accounts teams for accounting
    • Daily report of transactions to Senior management.
    • Technical Expertise- Good communication skill & knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Responsible for end to end execution of structured trade and Treasury products
    • Liaise with banks for onboarding our entity for Structured business.
    • Liaise with banks for any LC negotiation, confirming or discounting of trade documents,
    • Confirmation, Settlement of Interest Rate Swaps- wherever applicable
    • Monitor, review and execute trade finance structure, documentation to ensure smooth execution.
    • Maintain frequent customer contact with internal and external customers/ counterparts
    • Monitor and manage customer relationships via database spreadsheets, benchmarking
    • Liaise with BU traders on open positions, vessels’ loading and other issues pertaining to trade flow.
    • Tracking of Limit utilisation for Banks

    Requirements

    • Knowledge of Interest Rate Hedging
    • Able to prepare full set of shipping documents in accordance with L/C and contractual requirements
    • Good understanding of commodity trading will be an added advantage
    • Effective Communication and relationship management
    • Basic understanding of Trade Transaction
    • Keen eye for details and meticulous
    • Team player with good inter-personal skills
    • Good analytical and decision-making skills
    • International Trade Operations
    • Knowledge of MS Excel and Word
    • Knowledge of Incoterms and International trade and be able to apply to daily operations when required
    • Good knowledge of letter of credit - UCP rules & ISBP, its terms and differences
    • Able to identify and solve day-to-day problems independently
    • Good PC skills and ability to learn internal systems

    Qualifications

    • BSc in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
    • Professional qualification is required
    • Trade structure finance experience is key
    • 2 – 3 Years in International Trade Operations role
