    OSP Deployment Project Supervisor

    Description 

    • The Project Supervisor will be directly responsible for and actively involved in project execution planning, monitoring and control, stakeholders' engagement, and risk averting, in an effective manner that ensures projects are delivered to time, quality, and scope.
    • The role will typically involve everyday visits to project sites to ensure project objectives are not compromised and where necessary, guide the contractor to solve complex installation problems.
    • The project supervisor is also responsible for final integration & commissioning of service terminals (GPON or P2P) within acceptable loss levels and submitting test reports required for service fulfillment and maintenance operations.
    • Effective planning of P2P and GPON Fiber Projects
    • Supervise Projects to meet quality, scope, and time.
    • Proactively manage stakeholders, issues, and change controls.
    • Submit activity/completion reports in a timely manner.
    • Attend all project meetings – weekly review meetings, on-site kick-off meetings, divisional meetings, customer-triggered meetings, emergency meetings.
    • Actively participate & lead project hand-over/audit exercise.
    • Proactively engage stakeholders to mitigate escalations that may stall/delay project speed.
    • Provide support to other team members or units where necessary, or as instructed by your team leader or unit head.

    Educational Qualifications & Functional Skills

    • Academic: University Degree in Telecoms, Engineering or Applied Sciences.
    • Certifications in Fibre Optic Cabling, CFOT or FOA will be an added advantage.
    • Certifications in HSE Grade III will be an added advantage.
    • Functional Skills:
    • Proficient use of fiber test tools e.g. OTDR, power meter & Light source, VFL.
    • Proficient use of design software e.g. AutoCAD, Visio/GIS tools, etc.
    • Proficient use of basic data analytics software, e.g. Excel, Word, Google live sheets.
    • Excellent Communication Skills (Written & Oral).
    • Sound knowledge of telecom industry best practices with regard to fiber & civil installation.
    • An inherent culture of documentation – daily project activity reports, As-built drawings, splice reports, OTDR trace reports, project milestone/completion reports.
    • Work Experience:
    • Sound knowledge of fiber network architectures, designs & splice plans.
    • Over 2 years of proven track record in the supervision of fiber infrastructure projects in Estates (MDU/MTUs), High Streets (Metro), and Highways (long distance).
    • FTTx and P2P fiber maintenance experience is a distinct advantage i.e. fiber termination using fusion splice machines, testing & analyzing fiber links with OTDR and Light Source/Power Meters (LSPM), identifying fiber cores with VFLs, understanding loss budgets.

    NMS Engineer

    Description

    • Ensure smooth running of all network monitoring systems: both for Core network nodes and transmission network.
    • Run on 247365 network monitoring operation.
    • Ensure Core network and Customer links Monitoring applications are functioning properly: Solarwinds, Nagios, Nagviz, SAM, VNQM, etc.
    • Engagement of various Colo/POP sites manager in ensuring smooth running of the sites and our equipment they are in.
    • Escalating issues related to cooling, voltage instability, shelter leakages, etc.
    • Ensure continuous engagement of vendors and OEMs on service-related issues.
    • Proactively escalate issues to the network infrastructure team for capacity planning and network optimization.
    • Managing access request for ipNX Operation team visit to POPs/Colo sites, arranging joint visits to sites.
    • Generate and compile regular reports/availability for each of the Colo sites and service providers.

    Educational Qualifications & Functional Skills

    • University Degree in Engineering
    • Professional Qualification (CCNA, CompTIA Network+, ITIL, etc.) an added advantage
    • Knowledge of networking and network monitoring/management
    • Knowledge and experience with various web technologies
    • Ability to learn new things quickly.
    • Proactive monitoring of the status and performance of network infrastructure and services across the regions.
    • Troubleshooting and resolving first-level network outages on the network.
    • Perform second-level Escalation on network outages or faults to responsible parties.
    • Proactive monitoring of the FTTH network (OLT outages, PON port outages, link outages, etc.) for all faults and outages.
    • Proactive monitoring of hardware status of equipment (cooling, power, security, etc.) running on the network and escalating to responsible parties in the event of a fault.
    • Proactive monitoring of network trends and alert for network optimization and planning.
    • Proactive monitoring services (AAA servers, freeside, access control servers, etc.) supporting the network and escalating in the event of any outages.

    Client and Third-party Interaction:

    • Processing access into third-party sites on the network for visiting engineers.
    • Providing remote support to field engineers during network outages.
    • Engaging third-party providers (collocation, leased-lines, etc.) on any faults and follow-up till outages are resolved.
    • Raising tickets for faults on the network for tracking and effective escalation.
    • Handling ticket escalations from customers and providing necessary support and updates.

    Documentation:

    • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on all network outages, network performance, and service availability for third-party providers on the network.

    Work Experience

    • At least 2 years in the telecommunications industry.
    • Familiarity with Linux environment.
    • Fair idea of SNMP monitoring.

    OSP Supervisor

    Description

    • The Outside Plant (OSP) Supervisor oversees maintenance of ipNX fiber optic & civil work activities on the outside plant network.
    • The OSP Supervisor will be involved in the day-to-day maintenance and management of the outside plant, taking into consideration Customer and Local Authority organizations in the maintenance of the fiber outside plant. The role is expected to involve a significant element of on-site attendance.
    • Corporate Customers: Restore service failures within 3 hours of its occurrence - Implementation and integration of new projects and ensure all open incident tickets are closed within this time-frame.
    • Retail Customers: Restore service failures within 12 hours of its occurrence.
    • Incident Management Communication: Provide prompt feedback for input into the OTRS application with information relating to activities being carried out to resolve customer service incidents.
    • Proactively identify, plan and execute preventive maintenance action on the fiber network.
    • Provide operational data for FTTH Network Monitoring and analysis work that feeds into the improvement of fiber break-fix MTTR.

    Educational Qualifications & Functional Skills

    • Academic: University Degree in Telecoms, Engineering or Applied Sciences.

    Functional Skills:

    • Proven track records of maintenance and management of metro and/or long-distance fiber optic infrastructure.
    • Sound knowledge of telecom industry best practices, norms and technical requirements with regard to fiber & civil work maintenance.
    • FTTx and/or P2P fiber deployment and maintenance experience are distinct advantages i.e. fiber termination using fusion splice machines, testing & analyzing fiber links with OTDR and Light Source/Power Meters (LSPM), identifying fiber cores with VFLs.
    • Capable of understanding fiber network architectures, designs & splice plans.
    • An inherent culture of documenting concise and accurate “As-Is” status of network elements and splice configuration, in a consistent manner.
    • Familiarity with the requirements of Health & Safety legislation in Nigeria.
    • Experience in civil works supervision & quality control.
    • Experience in processing ROW License with Local Authorities/State Regulatory Agencies.
    • User experience for Microsoft Office Tools including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
    • User experience for Visio/AutoCAD/GIS tools is desired.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to solve complex problems in the shortest available time using honed analytical skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills with customers, vendors, team members and local community.
    • At least 2 years in the telecommunications industry, with experience in Fiber network deployments and outside plant maintenance.
    • Specific Knowledge of Civil Works planning applications with Nigerian Local Authorities.
