    Storekeeper

    Overview of the Position

    • Job holders report to the Warehouse Management Assistant/Associate or the designate.
    • holders are exposed to all phases of the warehouse operations and work with minimum supervision.
    • They may provide supervision and on-the-job training to other warehouse staff.

    Job Purpose

    • To handle receipt/dispatch and verification of commodities in order to maximise quality of warehouse operations and mitigate losses, and to support the best storage management practices in compliance with our client warehouse standards and established guidelines.

    Key Responsibilities (Not All-inclusive, Nor Exhaustive)

    • Effectively receive/dispatch commodities including transhipment (truck to truck) against official approved documentation (e.g. waybills and/or delivery notes) ensuring accuracy in physical count of commodities including the quality in compliance with the established standards.
    • Prepare, verify and sign off warehouse and transport documents, and maintain confidential files and accurate warehouse transaction records to ensure immediate reporting on commodity movements in line with the corporate requirements.
    • Conduct daily warehouse closing reconciliation and accurate inventory checks supporting internal control systems in compliance with the warehouse management requirements.
    • Perform daily inspections and prepare reports on the quantity and quality of the commodities received/dispatched and handled, detect promptly and analyse reasons for stock discrepancies/damages, investigate missing quantity and prepare warehouse loss reports recommending appropriate solutions, to enable informed decision-making.
    • Implement appropriate measures to safeguard food and non-food commodities, to ensure quality control using standard preventive measures in line with our client established procedures and authorization received from the supervisor.
    • Monitor condition of the warehouse and commodities and take appropriate actions, to support efficient warehouse space-planning and well-organized commodity storage following our client warehouse standards.
    • Provide guidance and on-the-job training to warehouse staff to contribute to their development and high performance.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in relevant to the role. (desirable).
    • Sector experience: Minimum of 2 year/s of demonstrable relevant Logistics experience (essential).
    • Geographical experience: Minimum of 1 year/s of experience in Africa (desirable).

    Languages:

    • Fluent in English (essential).

    Key Competencies:

    • Experience using logistics databases to extract routine reports.
    • Experience in managing warehouses with food and NFIs.

    VAC-7041 Convoy Leader

    Overview of position    

    • Required to transport cargo in the form of both food & non food items in accordance to the procedures & normative guidelines, as establish by our client.

    Role Objectives    
    Under the direct supervision of the Traffic Officer the incumbent shall perform the following duties::

    • Perform identical duties as driver, as indicated below, but with the additional responsibilities of:
    • Carry responsibility for convoy and drivers and provide leadership and guidance to those vehicles under the convoy.
    • Responsible for telecommunications and usage of  HF & VHF radio & Thuraya communications to inform Traffic Officer of progress and position on an hourly basis.
    • Ensure that all drivers carry out their tasks and responsibilities in accordance to their job descriptions.
    • Responsible for all security issues that may arise and always decide safest option for convoy and use careful judgement to ensure safe passage.
    • In the event of breakdown or recovery, decide upon best course of action to recover vehicle in the safest and quickest manner without potential damage being caused by in this exercise.
    • Ensure that sufficient funds are available for off-loading cargo where applicable.
    • Perform a daily inspection of the vehicle and ensure that it is mechanically sound and to report any problems or defects to immediate supervisor. 
    • Ensure that the vehicle under direct responsibility is thoroughly cleaned and maintained in a good mechanical condition.
    • Ensure that the Vehicle logbook is duly completed on a daily and timely basis free from errors to maintain good records.
    • Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled on time and make sure that the fuel consumption figures are maintained within the established parameters as set by our client.
    • Responsible to ensure that the cargo loaded at Origin is safely transported to the Destination free from contamination, losses or damage, and held accountable for the same, will witness loading together with tally clerk and ensure signing and endorsing of Way bill at destination.
    • Held responsible and accountable for vehicle and any tools or equipment given to the driver (and signed for) and ensure that it remains in good condition.
    • Ensure that the vehicle is loaded (metric tones) in accordance to the established Payload of the vehicle and under no circumstances to exceed this limit. Cargo must be loaded uniformly and equally distributed for safety reasons.
    • Drive always in a safe and responsible manner with due respect and attention for other vehicles, property
    • Whilst the vehicle is in the workshop the driver shall assist in repairs & maintenance activities as required.
    • Any accident that may occur must be immediately reported to supervisor and or other parties concerned.
    • Driver will only travel to authorized destination and only load authorized cargo, under no circumstance shall deviate from this unless authorized by immediate supervisor.
    • Will perform any other duties as requested by immediate Supervisor.

    Project reporting:    

    • This role works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Traffic Officer.

    Requirements

    • Certificate in a relevant discipline is desirable.
    • Geographical experience  - Minimum of 2 year/s of experience in Africa (essential).
    • Minimum of 2 year/s of demonstrable relevant Logistics experience (essential).
    • Must have had at least 2 years minimum experience preferably 5 years gained in the relevant driver license category.
    • Holder of a valid, clean driving license in accordance to the vehicle category assigned to drive in accordance to National Regulations.
    • Sector experience - Minimum of 2 year/s of demonstrable relevant Transport experience (desirable).
    • Languages  - Fluent in English (essential).

    Performance criteria:

    • Ensure that established route turn-around-times (expressed in Days / hours) and distances (expressed in kilometers) are within parameters set as well as respecting the established standard night out allowances, notwithstanding abnormal circumstances, such as security.
    • Fuel consumption figures maintained within parameters set.
    • Vehicle maintained in good mechanical condition, limited tyre wear free from any breakages in accordance to standards set by the Organization.
    • Cargo loaded, securely and safely, transported from Origin to destination in a secure dry environment and duly received in a good sound condition at the receiving location.
    • Complete all Vehicle administrative documents (Vehicle Log books, Way Bills..) accurately and correctly and in turn, hand them over to Traffic Officer on a timely basis.
    • Required to report on time for duty as per establish established working hours and sign the time sheet prepared for this purpose.
    • Ensure that both loading / un-loading times are kept to a minimum acceptable level and to report any abnormal waiting times.

    Team management:    

    • The Convoy Leader will liaise & co-operate with all other client's employees & cooperating partners & will have Driver(s) reporting directly to him/her.

    Further information:    

    • Loss or damage of cargo, spares, tools or equipment as well as loss of fuel in the care of the employee shall be deducted from the salary based on CIF value or local market rate, whichever is prevailing.
    • Based on a quarterly performance evaluation, the salary payment grade shall be adjusted accordingly for the new quarter.

    Consultant - Micro-Enterprise Fundamentals Training

    Description

    • Search for Common Ground (Search) is responsible for the implementation of objective 1 in Borno State, in partnership with Action Against Hunger and Neem Foundation.
    • This will contribute to the creation of the conditions for a broad alliance in these territories by recreating social links between and within the communities most affected by the crisis and by helping victims of violence overcome their traumas and to resume trust.
    • Collective and participatory activities will make it possible to offer means of analysis and shared actions to peacefully manage conflict, access, and use of limited natural resources.

    About the Project
    The overall objective of the RESILAC project is to contribute to the economic recovery and the strengthening of resilience and social cohesion of the territories of the Lake Chad basin most impacted by the Lake Chad crisis and climate change. The specific objectives of the project are:

    • Strengthening human capital, social cohesion, and collective and sustainable management of natural resources in targeted territories;
    • Promoting economic recovery in targeted areas and the resilience of the most vulnerable populations, especially young people and women, through access to employment and agro-sylvo-pastoral production systems intensified and adapted to climate change;
    • Valuing and consolidating the actors of the targeted territories by encouraging dialogue and commitment, reinforcing their capacities according to the skills and roles of each one; and
    • Producing useful knowledge for the quality of project activities in a crisis context and for decision-making by local actors.

    Context

    • Poor waste management and disposal continues to impact the environmental conditions of the state and contributes to climate change-related challenges with visible impact in the context of Borno state, especially where floods continue to affect the vulnerable population during the rainy season. The continued report of waste accumulation and the need for waste disposal across the project implementation communities necessitate putting in place an initiative for a creative approach to the management of the waste generated within the communities for a productive purpose.
    • Together with the community stakeholders, Search identified the need to build the community capacity to convert waste materials into productive usable products.
    • Hence, the consultancy aimed at providing practical capacity building on the transformation of waste such as plastics into usable products in Maiduguri. Search also identified the need to build the capacities of the engaged youths in business management in order to gain knowledge of bookkeeping, resource sourcing and management,  savings, and constructive financial habits.
    • Search is looking at engaging a training consultant with strong practical expertise in Microenterprise capacity building, and entrepreneurship to work with Search’s RESILAC project team towards building the capacity of the project participants in converting waste material into reusable products.

    Training Objectives
    Training objectives are as follows :

    • Participants are able to harness knowledge learned from plastic waste management training to combine with business management training to create a profitable enterprise
    • Participants have increased financial literacy and enterprise understanding.
    • Participants show enhanced capacities to access self-employment or wage-employment and/or establish their business on waste plastic recycling
    • To enhance participants’ understanding and awareness of basic concepts and market conditions that affect their ability to maximize their profits and improve their production.
    • Participants are able to understand the broader context of consumers, suppliers, producers, and marketing.

    Methodology

    • The Consultant will follow a practical methodology and training curriculum agreed upon with Search prior to implementation of the training.
    • The facilitators will be expected to utilize a mixed approach of facilitating training that is practical, participatory, and engaging to ensure active participation and increase learning outcomes.
    • The training will engage about 40 youths participants of the project who would be selected across the project implementation communities of the targeted LGAs. Search’s RESILAC team will provide support to the consultant to prepare and implement the training

    Deliverables

    • Develop an acceptable training plan that highlights each milestone of delivery.
    • Prepare well-structured training materials with an agenda that define clearly the path to practical skills acquisition and enhancement.
    • Conduct a skill enhancement practical base training for the beneficiaries.
    • Produce Pre- and post-training assessments of the participants' knowledge on the subject matter.  
    • Develop appropriate training aids as necessary (ex: case studies, presentations in PowerPoint, handout, and any relevant document(s)
    • A detailed training report with key highlights of all the sessions conducted, successes, pictures, and feedback for improvement of future programming

    Reporting Line:

    • Under direct supervision of the RESILAC project manager, the Consultant will work with support of the RESILAC Senior Community Mobilization Officers to coordinate and implement the training plan towards enhancing the capacity of the participants on waste recycling

    Required Profile

    • The consultant must be skilled in converting waste, especially plastic waste into useable products of different types.
    • S/He must demonstrate a track record of successes in waste recycling and management with good training and facilitation skills.
    • Ability to utilize different approaches to impact skills and knowledge toward practical application in waste management and recycling.
    • Certificate of apprenticeship or company registration. An academic qualification in waste management and recycling will be an added advantage.
    • Applications from waste management and recycling companies are welcome.

    Other Relevant Requirements:

    • The consultant must be familiar with the context of Northeast Nigeria with a focus on the conflict dynamics of the Lake Chad region.
    • Must be willing to travel, or reside in Maiduguri
    • Excellent facilitation skills and high capacity to engage participants
    • Ability to create a safe space for participants of diverse backgrounds
    • Excellent written communication and report writing skills in English
    • Basic computer skills is in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel among other skills
    • Fluency in Hausa and/or Kanuri and knowledge of other languages indigenous to Northeastern Nigeria will be an added advantage.
    • Motivation and self-discipline to work without supervision.

    Budget and Terms of Engagement

    • The consultancy will begin April 18th, 2022, all training and reports should be completed no later than April 29, 2022.
    • The entire consultancy will cover a period of 10 working days {8 days to cover 2 training sessions of 20 participants each, 1 day for the development of training materials, and 2 days for report writing}.     
    • 5% withholding tax will be deducted at source from the total cost of the consultancy fee
    • All logistics arrangements for consultant should be included in the proposed budget.

    The consultant is required to respect the following Ethical Principles:

    • Comprehensive and systematic inquiry: Consultant should make the most of the existing information and full range of stakeholders available at the time of the review. Consultant should conduct systematic, data-based inquiries. He or she should communicate his or her methods and approaches accurately and in sufficient detail to allow others to understand, interpret and critique his or her work. He or she should make clear the limitations of the review and its results.
    • Competence: Consultant should possess the abilities and skills and experience appropriate to undertake the tasks proposed and should practice within the limits of his or her professional training and competence.
    • Honesty and integrity: Consultant should be transparent with the contractor/constituent about any conflict of interest, any change made in the negotiated project plan and the reasons why those changes were made, any risk that certain procedures or activities produce misleading review information.
    • Respect for people: Consultant respect the security, dignity, and self-worth of respondents, program participants. Consultant has the responsibility to be sensitive to and respect differences amongst participants in culture, religion, gender, disability, age, and ethnicity.

    Training Coordination Consultant

    Purpose of the Consultancy

    • Search is working with community and government stakeholders towards building community resilience to conflict, building social cohesion and management of natural resources.
    • This is being achieved through community structures supported by the project to utilize community led initiative towards addressing issues militating against access and utilization of resources and delivery of a full range of project activities.  
    • Search for Common Ground is seeking  to hire a consultant for the next four months to exclusively oversee and support the delivery of key training with support from the Training Specialist and project team.
    • The consultant will support the recruitment of training consultants and manage their activities throughout the delivery of their assigned task. S/he will be responsible to ensure that training dates are upheld, training reports produced in time and of the expected quality at an acceptable standard.
    • The consultant will be an integral part of the RESILAC project team with specific responsibility to ensure that all training deliverables are achieved within the timeframe. More specifically, the Training Coordination Consultant will have the following roles and responsibilities:

    Deliverables:

    • Work with the comprehensive training plan with specific dates for each training to coordinate all training. 
    • Ensure that each trainer produces an acceptable training report that is finalized and approved.
    • Ensure Purchase Request and vendor payments are achieved at the completion of the assignment.
    • Coordinate field training activities and ensure they are delivered at high quality Search for Common Ground’s standards.
    • Ensure training aids are organized and facilitators have the required support to do their jobs.
    • Support the recruitment of training consultant where necessary

    Required Profile

    • Education: A Masters or Postgraduate in Leadership, Management, Development studies, international relations or other relevant fields.
    • The Consultant will work under the direct supervision of Search’s Capacity Building and Training Specialist with support from the RESILAC Project Manager.
    • Experience: The Consultant must be a trainer with diverse experiences in the field of training both planning and execution in Peacebuilding and Humanitarian sectors.

    Other Relevant Requirements

    • The consultant must be familiar with the context of Northeast Nigeria with focus on conflict dynamics of the Lake Chad region.
    • Must be resident in Maiduguri Excellent facilitation skills and high capacity to plan at short notice Excellent written communication and report writing skills in English.

    • Hence, the consultancy aimed at developing training materials and facilitate training on leadership and advocacy for the project stakeholder in Maiduguri.
    • Search is looking at engaging a training consultant with strong expertise in capacity building within the field of leadership, management, community engagement, good governance, social accountability and advocacy to work with Search’s RESILAC project team to design training content, modules/materials that will serve the need of the target participants.

    Methodology

    • The Consultant will follow a methodology and training curriculum agreed upon with Search prior to implementation of the training.

    • Design detailed training agenda and curriculum for trainings to be reviewed and approved by the RESILAC Project Manager and Capacity Building and Training Specialist
    • Produce Pre- and post-tests for the trainings based on training curriculum
    • Develop appropriate training aids as necessary (ex: case studies, presentations in Power-point, handout and any relevant document(s)
    • A detailed training report with key highlights of all the sessions conducted, successes, pictures, and feedback for improvement of future programming.

    Reporting Line:

    • The Consultant will work under the direct supervision of Search’s RESILAC Project Manager and with support from the RESILAC Senior Community Mobilization Officers

    Required Profile
