    Naiis Media Specialist

    Duration of Assignment: One year
    Work Hour: Full time

    Background Information

    • The Nigeria AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey (NAIIS) is a population based household survey that aims to examine the distribution of HIV, Hepatitis B and C disease in Nigeria, to assess the coverage and impact of HIV services on the population level, and to measure HIV-related risk behaviors using a nationally representative sample of persons aged 0-64 years.
    • The purpose of the communication activities is to create awareness and gain the buy-in and support of all the stakeholders in Nigeria and especially the Nigerian citizens from the level of the state government to the communities where data collection will take place for the implementation of the NAIIS.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Under the supervision of the NAIIS Mobilization and Advocacy Director (AFENET HIV Advisor), the candidate will perform a variety of tasks, subject to the team's workload and priorities.

    The candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

    • Work with various media houses to promote the NAIIS project
    • Develop media concepts required for development of messages for the electronic, social and paper media.
    • Produce high quality info graphics for the unit; generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to act positively.
    • Develop power point presentations, graphs, charts, and analytics and illustrative maps, diagrams, and graphics.
    • Layout reports, information sheets, and other publication materials.
    • Assist in standardizing all existing products and templates such as reports info sheets, presentation, situation reports as well as fonts, formatting, icons, images and layout techniques.
    • Contribute to web content development internally and externally.
    • Assist in developing web design mockups for internal and external platforms.
    • Develop communication material and support internal and external outreach efforts
    • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification.
    • Moderate all user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each community.
    • Create editorial calendars, synchronization and syndication schedules.
    • Assess new standards, technologies and trends; continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information.
    • Prepare daily news briefs on issues in the health sector and program achievements
    • Perform such other duties as may be required.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • University degree or HND in Digital Marketing, Graphic Arts, Computer Science, Mass Communications or a related field, with minimum of 3 years work experience in similar position.
    • Excellent knowledge of graphic design software
    • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ and other social media best practices
    • Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics
    • Experience with doing audience and buyer persona research
    • Good understanding of social media KPIs
    • Familiarity with web design and publishing; CMS, CSS, HTML5
    • Advanced proficiency with software packages, most specifically Adobe Suite (In design, Illustrator, Animate, Flash and Photoshop) and MS Office (Publisher, PowerPoint, Visio) and SharePoint
    • Fluency in English and any other native Nigerian language

    Naiis Zonal Mobilization Coordinator

    Location: Abuja and Geopolitical zones (works in and coordinates assigned Geopolitical zones)
    Duration of Assignment: One year
    Work Hour: Full time

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversees survey mobilization activities at zonal/constituency level
    • Coordinates and supervises the Zonal community mobilizers/officers
    • Coordinates zonal stakeholders meeting
    • Attends community-level stakeholders’ meetings with State Based Mobilizers (SBM)
    • Works with the state teams to secure NAIIS introduction letters from SMOH for State Mobilizers, SBM and CMs
    • Plan and participate in advocacy visits in each zone
    • Coordinate communication, mobilization and engagement activities in each zone
    • Reports to the Mobilization Director (Central Coordinator)
    • Support the development of mobilization associated documents
    • Prepare and fill advocacy and mobilization activities documents
    • Facilitating trainings and advocacy to Community gate keepers, introductory and departure meetings

    Qualifications and Experience

    • An adult with at least a B.Sc/BA or its equivalent, and a demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English with a good understanding and ability to communicate in at least one indigenous Nigerian language
    • An advanced degree in relevant field will be an added advantage
    • Experience with the terrain and structure in the states in each Coordinator’s assigned geopolitical zones.
    • Must be someone well respected and known with good character
    • Most have at least 5 years working experience in Public Health Service demand creation within the locality or/and experience conducting communication and mobilization activities
    • Must have a good tracked record of active liaison with Community Based Organizations, Traditional and Religious institution in dealing with complex issues and multi-facet activities in the community
    • Prior experience of successfully performing Community Mobilization role in a HIV/AIDS or Health Related Survey is highly desirable.

    Field Coordinator/TB & Resource Mobilization

    Duration of Assignment: One year
    Work Hour: Full time

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Provide technical and academic support on the HIV program and NFELTP:

    • Identify HIV/AIDS and TB research priorities and Strengthening of HIV/AIDS related operational research of NFELTP including Residents’ thesis design, reviews and finalization.
    • In collaboration with other advisors and the residents, design, plan, implement and evaluate projects on HIV/AIDS and other diseases
    • Guide residents of the NFELTP program in preparing protocols and tools in the design and conduct of the FELTP practical outputs including study protocols, outbreak investigations and scientific write up with additional focus particularly HIV/TB related ones.
    • Support residents to develop abstracts for national and international scientific conferences as well as presentations at NFELTP organized seminars.
    • Support development manuscript for publication in peer reviewed journals.
    • Assist in teaching didactic sessions of the program
    • Support the delivery of Government and PEPFAR objectives in Nigeria and perform tasks /activities as may be assigned on behalf of AFENET by the HIV Program Advisor. These include (but not limited to) HIV data system strengthening, HIV/AIDS surveys, HIV assessments and evaluations.

    Resource mobilization:

    • Review existing institutional resource mobilization strategy and plan, identifying key areas for adjustment/strengthening
    • Conduct an internal assessment to ascertain the organizational core capacities and areas of competitive advantage
    • Identify potential donors and map donors’ strategic areas of interest, requirements and funding guidelines
    • Develop and update a Resource Mobilization Strategic Plan
    • Review and regularly update donor mapping, identifying and notifying the appropriate programme teams about new grant opportunities for action.
    • Coordinate the writing of grant proposals, providing technical input for proposals in areas of his/her expertise and put in place mechanisms to ensure all key internal stakeholders (programs, finance and administration) provide the required input in a timely manner for submission of a strong proposal
    • Participate in representing AFENET Nigeria at external meetings with partners, funders and other stakeholders
    • Perform tasks /activities as may be assigned on behalf of AFENET by Regional Technical Coordinator and the HIV Program Advisor

    Key Deliverables

    • Detailed workplan based on the TOR and key deliverables on HIV/TB and resource mobilization.
    • Technical/process reports of HIV/TB and grant related activities/meetings
    • Updated Resource Mobilization Strategic Plan for AFENET Nigeria
    • Timely submission of grant proposals/response to funding opportunity
    • Activity summary report for each proposal/response to funding opportunity written and submitted
    • Bi-weekly resource mobilization meeting with AFENET Nigeria management
    • Engage key technical staff in grant writing
    • Set up a resource mobilization/grant writing unit in AFENET Nigeria and coordinate with regional and AFENET secretariat efforts
    • Finalize and submit 1 grant per month

    Qualifications and Experience

    • First Degree in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine or related field with a Master’s Degree in Public Health in Epidemiology or related field.
    • Post-graduate training through a field epidemiology training program or work experience in similar program is an added advantage
    • Over 10 years’ experience in related duties

    Competencies:

    • Strong technical knowledge in public health, epidemiology, surveillance, disease outbreak investigation, data management including analysis and interpretation of data.
    • Skills in Microsoft Office, Epi Info, SPSS and Stata
    • Ability to communicate clearly in English language orally and in writing
    • Ability to engage in successful interaction; extensive contact with members of government agencies and partners at national, state and local government levels

    Mobilization Assistant

    Duration of Assignment: One year

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support all NI V/NAIlS activities relating to mobilization, data generation and electronics system
    • Support community mobilization activities and advocacy visits.
    • Support the development of work and survey tools.
    • Support project mobilization activities and office
    • Maintain and keeps in order the NAIlS mobilization offices
    • Support and participate in field implementation activities
    • Ensure preparation and documentation of all activity report
    • Keep all records and minutes of-events
    • Support training's on the NAIlS projects for health workers, field workers and Ministry of Health officials etc. at LGA, State and national levels.
    • Support data collection and related activities.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned to him by the Mobilization Team Lead / HIV Program Advisor.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • First degree in Health Sciences, Computer Sciences, Statistics, Public Health, Mass Communication or related field.
    • At least one-year experience working in similar roles
    • Experience in assessing and/or supporting health systems in Nigeria
    • Must also have documented post NYSC experience working in relevant field
    • Experience with any analysis software such as STATA, SPSS, CSPRO, Epi Info, 5AS.
    • Advanced Academic/Professional qualification will be an added advantage.

    Competencies:

    • Proven knowledge of modern office procedures
    • Language Proficiency: Level IV English (fluency in both written and oral) is required
    • Good interpersonal relationship with ability to establish and maintain good relations with people at various levels and of different nationalities
    • Skills in Microsoft Office, Epi Info, SPSS and Stata
    • Ability to communicate clearly in English language orally and in writing a Good character and good attitude to work.
