    Protection Field Officer 1

    • Under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader in Damaturu and the Head of Sub-Delegation, the Protection Field Officer contributes to the implementation and monitoring of ICRC protection activities.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Contributes to the analysis of the security, socioeconomic, cultural, and political environment relevant to the ICRC, shares relevant information with team members and reports any change in the situation.
    • Contributes to the design and implementation of projects.
    • Analyses and contributes to written internal reporting and activity programming.
    • Helps to make internal and external meeting meaningful (through preparation, participation, reporting and follow-up).
    • Develops and maintains contact with the municipal/regional authorities, local/regional National Society branches, the local population, suppliers etc.
    • Fosters a conducive environment (multidisciplinary approach, good team dynamic) among team members.
    • Ensures the sustainability of their work and puts in place a system for archiving their work for the purposes of institutional memory.
    • Identifies possible protection concerns in the field and reports directly to the Protection Team Leader.
    • Monitors displacement and humanitarian needs of persons affected by Armed Conflict in AoR; and drafts analysis of the security, socio-economic, cultural, and political environment relevant to the ICRC, sharing relevant information with colleagues and reports any change in the situation as per the structure's communication flow.
    • Represents Protection and supports other departments (e.g., EcoSec, Wathab, Networking, Communication, Health etc.) upon needs and requests, in carrying out field activities in AoR and ensures administrative and financial follow up after field missions.
    • Ensures that all the information related to NIAC, and possible Protection concerns collected by the Generalist FOs or other relevant colleagues/interlocutors are shared with the Protection Team.
    • Monitors the humanitarian environment and needs, and analyses the security, socio-economic, cultural, and political environment as relevant to the ICRC. Shares relevant information with colleagues and reports any changes in the situation.
    • Contributes to build and consolidate ICRC’s contacts and networks with key interlocutors by expanding a multi-purpose network of interlocutors and keeps the contact list up to date.
    • Participates and represents the ICRC in internal and external meetings and develops and maintains contacts with municipal/regional authorities, local/regional Red Cross/Red Crescent Society branches, the population, and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Provides translations for the Protection Team Leader and other departments as requested.

    Education and Experience Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in law, humanitarian affairs, or any other relevant field
    • Minimum 3 to 5 years working experience.
    • Working proficiency in English and Hausa compulsory – Kanuri or Fulani an asset
    • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), collaborative spaces
    • Knowledge of the cultural and socio-economic environment in Northern Nigeria
    • Applicants should have a Nigerian nationality or hold a working permit

    Desired profile and Skills

    • Previous working experience with an INGO is an asset.
    • Experience with the Nigerian Red Cross Society is an asset.

    Protection of Family Links Field Officer 2

    • Under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader in Damaturu and the Head of Sub-Delegation, The Protection Family Links Field Officer 2 supports the implementation and monitoring of ICRC Protection Family Links (PFL) activities in Yobe State. S/He assists in any other protection activities when and if required.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Performs internal and external follow-up of individual cases autonomously, in his/her area of responsibility.
    • Registers unaccompanied children and vulnerable persons, ensures they are regularly visited, and families are traced.
    • Receives visitors and ensures that visits are appropriately followed up.
    • Translates and interprets from and to Hausa upon request.
    • Carries out administrative tasks relating to the follow-up of PFL field assignments.
    • Plans, carries out and reports autonomously on PFL activities and the collection of statistical data in his/her area of responsibility.
    • Contributes to analyses of the security, socio-economic, cultural, and political environment in which the ICRC is working, shares relevant information with team members and reports any changes in the situation.
    • Contributes to the identification of needs, design, and implementation of projects.
    • Collects, compiles, and translates PFL-related information and prepares written reports.
    • Assists in institutional exercises relating to planning, budgeting, and monitoring programmes.
    • Plans, organizes, and reports on internal and external meetings.
    • Develops and maintains contact with municipal/regional stakeholders, local/regional NRCS branches, the local population, and suppliers.
    • Prepares, participates in, and reports on all aspects of field visits.
    • Provides technical supports and supervises volunteers in the implementation and monitoring of PFL activities.
    • Fosters a constructive working environment (multidisciplinary approach, good team dynamics) among team members.
    • Ensures the sustainability of their work and puts in place a system for archiving their work for the purposes of institutional memory.
    • Liaises with the NRCS on all matters relating to PFL in his/her area of responsibility in Yobe state.
    • Organises periodic meeting and supervises the activities of the NRCS PFL volunteers in his/her area of responsibility in Yobe state through the PFL focal point and team leaders

    Education and Experience Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in law, humanitarian affairs, or any other relevant field
    • Minimum 3 to 5 years working experience.
    • Working proficiency in English and Hausa compulsory – Kanuri or Fulani an asset

    Health Field Officer 2 (Fixed-term Contract)

    Under the supervision of the Health Delegate in Maiduguri, The Health Field Officer (HFO) will support in planning, implementation, and close monitoring of the community Health Programme. He/she will work in close collaboration with the MIU PHC team, the NorCross community health team based in Abuja as well as NRCS teams (Borno Branch and Abuja HQ) to ensure timely assessment, implementation, monitoring and reporting.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Focal point for all matters related to the ICRC and NorCross supported community-based health in in Borno state, including but not limited to promotive and preventive healthcare, communicable diseases, nutrition, hygiene promotion and sexual and gender-based violence.
    • Supports with background information and data collection, monitors and reports on the community health program.
    • Ensure that all activities are implemented in collaboration with the SMOH/LGA health/nutrition authorities, national protocols are observed/available and in line with ICRC principles
    • Ensure timely implementation and quality monitoring of the NorCross supported community health projects through structured and regular monitoring, field visits, follow up and reporting
    • Technically support the Operational National Society (NRCS) and NorCross to better plan for future projects, review and provide input to reports, analyse trends and suggest project adjustments.
    • In a collaboration with sub delegation, NorCross and NRCS branches, organizes for a joint monitoring field visits to the selected project sites.
    • Ensure Community Engagement and Accountability methodologies are used in the design and implementation of community-based health projects.
    • Ensure that community health volunteers receive consistent professional clinical supervision, and that outreach activities are tied to the provision of adequate clinical services.
    • Support the integration of relevant activities to improve health status of beneficiaries and facilitate access to adequate services for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, when relevant and in coordination with other ICRC teams e.g. protection.
    • Identifies training needs with ABJ NorCross team and MIU Health delegate, prepares plan / budget and implements training programs including on-site training.
    • In liaison with Nutrition and ECOSEC team, ensure coordination and proper linkages are established for nutrition activities at community level and routine health/nutrition activities in the facilities.
    • Oversee the coordination of all the components of the Community health activities in collaboration with the ABJ NorCross Community health team and MIU Health Delegate
    • Liaise with health authorities State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA), State Ministry of Health (SMoH), Local Government Authorities (LGAs) and humanitarian organisations working in community health, nutrition and health as required by his/her supervisor.
    • Collaborate with all other ICRC departments and sectors to ensure community health and nutrition activities are integrated.
    • Ensures timely data collection and reporting on the community health program in his area of responsibility i.e. Beneficiary statistics

    Education and Experience Required

    • University Degree in related Health Sciences e.g., nursing, midwifery; registered and with relevant experience,
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing community-based health or other related health programs
    • Excellent written and spoken English, Hausa
    • Previous experience in community-based health and/or nutrition programs
    • Previous experience in humanitarian context in N.E Nigeria
    • Very good understanding of culture/health structure in Northeast
