    Business Development Lead

    Location: Umuahia, Abia

    Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

    Job objectives:

    Our client is a cutting-edge startup focused on integrating technology and innovation into the insurance sector, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and community impact. Operating on lean budgets and prioritizing flexibility, they are committed to driving transformative change while engaging with local communities.

    Our client is seeking an innovative and strategic Business Development Lead with a passion for health and community outreach to lead business operations in Umuahia. This leadership role requires a proactive individual who can identify growth opportunities, build meaningful partnerships, and drive sustainable business growth. 

    Principal Duties / Responsibilities 

    Strategic Business Growth 

    • Develop and implement comprehensive business strategies to drive revenue growth and market expansion, with a particular focus on the health and community outreach sectors.  
    • Lead business initiatives that align with the company’s vision of sustainability, technology integration, and community impact, ensuring measurable results and profitability.  
    • Identify new market opportunities in Umuahia and surrounding regions, including product diversification and service innovation, to strengthen market presence.

    Leadership & People Management  

    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a cross-functional team, fostering a culture of collaboration, performance excellence, and continuous improvement.  
    • Develop a leadership pipeline and ensure that the team is aligned with the company’s strategic goals while encouraging individual and collective growth.  
    • Oversee talent acquisition, development, and retention efforts to build a high-performing team that drives business success.

    Sales & Marketing Leadership 

    • Lead the sales and marketing teams in the creation and execution of effective campaigns to promote the company’s health and insurance products, driving market penetration and customer engagement.  
    • Analyze market trends and customer feedback to refine sales strategies, optimize product offerings, and position the company as a leader in the local market.  

    Qualifications & Experience:  

    • Experience: Proven track record in a senior business development or leadership role, ideally within the insurance, health, or insurtech sectors, with demonstrated success in driving growth and managing operations.  
    • Skills: Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of health outreach, technology, and community engagement. Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.  
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
