    Director of Internal Audit

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Develop and implement an annual audit plan.
    • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management processes.
    • Prepare audit reports and make recommendations for improvements.
    • Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations.
    • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
    • Provide advisory services on financial and operational matters.
    • Lead and supervise the Internal Audit Department staff
    • Responsible to the Vice-Chancellor in an advisory capacity.

    Qualifications and Experience
    The candidate for the vacant post should have:

    • Attained the rank of Deputy Director, Internal Audit in the University system or tertiary institution with a minimum of fifteen (15) post-qualification work experience.
    • Obtained a good honours Degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division in Accounting from a recognised institution plus a Master's Degree in a relevant discipline.
    • Possess a NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion

    Certificates:

    • Possession of any of the following professional qualifications
    • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN/ANAN).
    • Association of Chartered Accountants and Corporate Accountants (ACCA).
    • Institute of Cost and ManagementAccountant (ICMA)- UK, American
    • Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPA).
    • In-depth knowledge of auditing standards, regulations, and best practices.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with ICT compliance.
    • High level of integrity and attention to detail, As Deputy Director or above.
    • Minimum of 5 years as Deputy Director and above

    Requirements of Office:

    • Applicant must be proactive with high integrity, moral integrity and good interpersonal relations and be able to provide competent professional leadership in the Directorates to command the respect and loyalty of staff.
    • He/She must appreciate the complexity of the University system and enjoy good mental/physical health.
    • Candidate should not be 60 years old at the time of assumption of office.

    Salary and Conditions of Service

    • The salary and conditions of service are as applicable under the University Law and as determined from time to time by the University's Governing Council.

Besides, the statement should identify the challenges, envisioned and proposed mitigating strategies and innovations she/he will bring to the table as a change agent.
