    Farm Manager

    IBFCAlliance is currently recruiting a Farm Manager for one of its clients, a leading farm in Nigeria located in Ekiti State. The ideal candidate must be willing to relocate to Ekiti

    Job Responsibilities

    • Support and organize farm administration for the establishment of a commercially viable large-scale farm.
    • Establish and manage all Green House and Open Field fruits and vegetables, and Cassava agribusiness matters including Land Preparation, seedling nursery, transplanting/planting, irrigation, fertilization, disease and pest prevention and control, weed management and related activities.
    • Train selected candidates as agronomists for both vegetable and Cassava related activities.
    • Management and oversight of a team of agronomists and extension workers
    • Develop and implement cassava and vegetable out-grower schemes in conjunction with technical partners, including the selection and training of farmers.
    • Deliver agreed Production targets as set out in the business plan from time-to-time.
    • Follow strict management, operational and monitoring programs on all farm related matters.
    • Execute, monitor and report performance on an ongoing basis against approved programs and budgets.
    • Maintain compliance with Company rules and procedures and maintain compliance with regulatory statutes, authorities and industry best practices
    • Oversee budgeting processes and participate in the business plan and strategy development for the Company’s farms
    • Identify, recommend and implement best practices in project management, based on expert knowledge of project management
    • Build and lead farm teams to achieve the Company’s goals, and provide mentoring and coaching to team members
    • Develop and maintain the Company’s processes to support effective internal control system and operations for the farm
    • Provide guidance and leadership in rigorous commercial field operations, risk management, including management of community exposures and relationships
    • Collaborate with local community leaderships to develop and retain excellent rapport with leaders and the entire host communities, including other relevant stakeholders
    • Engage and align the farm team, contractors etc. with functions, assignments and the Company’s planned growth objectives and critical initiatives, including effective and ‘to standard’ delivery of scope of work
    • Participate in meetings with key stakeholders, including the Ekiti State Government, Community leaderships and other departments regarding the resolutions of unfolding implementation challenges, on–going establishment/ production issues and support discussions on new projects
    • Provide meaningful and reliable management reporting, including financial analyses, working capital forecasting and expenditure reporting
    • Direct all the field work activities done on the farm including direct management and supervision of daily operations of production
    • Plan with relevant subjects the administration, operational management and alignment required for farm establishment on land clearing, land preparation, planting, crop management, harvesting; Specifics of this includes:
    • manage and maintain land area by organizing and allocating field space for production operations and managing land clearing operations
    • manage finances and production to maintain farm progress against budget parameters
    • Support hiring the right farm hands, vendors and contractors to support land/field opening and other production operations
    • the planting and management of crops including harvesting and Quality assurance of same.
    • Oversee the harvesting of the crops during harvesting season and packaging the crops for sale, including facilitating institutional sales arrangements
    • support planning finances and production to maintain farm progress against budget parameters
    • Manage and ensure that ALL stock, inventory and other financial records are kept up to date.
    • Making an inventory of the crops/harvest and accounting for their sales /distribution
    • support all necessary establishment operation for the future processing factory to be established

    Qualification and Experience

    • First degree in Agriculture-related field, Accounting, Economics or business-related field. Professional Certificate or Masters’ degree will be an added value
    • Minimum of 15 years’ experience with 5 years in a management position in agriculture-related business
    • Extensive experience in a farming-related field
